i guess you could say that.
i’m wondering how this dude is even able to survive. Does his wife make the lion’s share of the money or something? I don’t see how the past projects he has been doing for the past year and a half are able to support his household.
First, that assumes what everyone says is true. I don't know. Second, he did okay for a while.
Mike was in comics in the 90s working on x-books and with Wildstorm.
His wife cosplayed one of Jim Lee's characters, if I'm remembering right. Mike then moved over to DC, pencilling part of Mark Waid's aborted JLA run before becoming a regular Superman penciller in the early 00s. Mike posted on the then DC message boards, going from memory, when he was led into stating his opinion that Superman would probably support traditional marriage, being from Kansas farm country and all.
This led to his first cancelling? Then he proceeded to spend some time in the wilderness before Miller's friends hooked him up on Martin's Hedge Knight series, which started a long and lucrative career with Martin's properties.
Miller's artwork continued to be tied to GoT/song of ice and fire back during the series peak with
covers.
While we see artists bad mouth residuals, any residuals from these kindsof things aren't anything to sneeze at.
Mike finally got back at DC with Injustice. Regardless of my opinion on the quality of those comics, they were
very successful.
So in addition to having worked in comics at the most lucrative time on the most lucrative properties, having a steady number of evergreen projects in trade, and until recently enjoying moderate success in crowdfunding before tanking; Mike has decades of lucrative OG artwork.
It's more a statement on his own incompetence
if he is having financial difficulties like Frog and WC have alleged.
