People overestimating their own self-importance. This extends into many facets of life. In the context of customer service, it's customers who see themselves as heroes, martyrs, or victims. In general, whether politics are involved or not, people who think they're far more important than they really are or ever will be. We see this both on and offline. There are many explanations for this mentality, but I won't bother, or even try, to get into those.
From the customer service angle, it gets really cringey seeing people who think spending money or having an opinion on company policy makes them a pillar of the community or whatever. I hope that whoever encouraged this mindset is rotting in the deepest, darkest pits of hell.
