Wait, so Zac was behind the cringe Chechnya bit? Something that essentially everyone found fucking retarded?

:story:

So this whole fucking thing, this entire tell all, is Zac trying to justify this single decision which basically killed V5 as a game for years. Holy shit this dude is a whiny piece of shit.
Maybe I'm getting lost in the exceptionally casual prose, but that's not the read I'm getting out of it. He actually criticized the Chechnya bit, and I thought he was already out of the team by then.

From what I can tell he’s defending the Chechnya take. The time between writing and publishing could mean he is the guy who did it, even if he was off the team by publishing time.

Still, I would take anything from Zak with a massive grain of salt. And he isn’t telling us anything new, which is that PDX bought the license, weren’t sure what to do with it so they brought in a LARP guy for writing tabletop stuff, and wanted to get a new edition out ASAP to use this new property they’d acquired - so no wonder a lot of stuff is from the MMO development, why not recycle and use stuff already on the table?

He didn't. He just did the first Visual Novel for the game and then he was off the project. He's not listed as an author on the Camarilla guide. Just because he sympathizes with the NuWW team doesn't mean that he was behind it. This fucker is an unrepentant woke-scold who attacks his lefty enemies as right-wing when they get woke at him in a way he doesn't like.

Aww. I was hoping for extra spice behind this.

Unfortunately, even if the guy's diatribe can be entertaining to read sometimes as an example of a woketard getting 'tarded on by other wokes, he's... pretty much inconsequential. I'm hoping he comes up with some more interesting claims with regards to Dave/Olivia's actual role in the current crop of bullshit the World of Darkness is mired in.

Hill got shitcanned by Onyx Path a few years after being the lead writer on Changeling: The Lost 2nd ed. They had a team going in behind him to rewrite his dumpster fire of a game and they wound up using none of the word count and he didn't see a dime. Since then, he's been exiled to the indy press and his failed kickstarter campaigns.

So Zack is defending the stupidest fucking thing White wolf ever did and doesnt get how badly they shit the bed? No wonder it's been such a shit show, the whole thing is an resetera/sa style sjw power struggle which somehow escalated into an international incident.
Zack and white wolf arnt the good guys we're just watching two groups of sjw's tear into each other.

What's better than watching SJWs making fools out of themselves? Watching SJWs fighting each other. Current Year WoD is shit, so we might as well extract some enjoyment out of this situation.

Ah, the old Todd Howard school of game development. We're going to strip features out of the game, make it simpler, make it dumber, make the world smaller and emptier, and if you don't like it, homebrew/mod that shit.

As with anything related to the Sabbat since Second Edition, and doubly so for anything at all released after Revised, I fully expect this to suck.

This mindset interests me because you inevitably end up adding levels of complexity anyway like they did in reqiuem, if you look at the discipline redo they're having to staple compensatory shit on to try and compensate which is less logical and structured than before. For example Oblivion fail to represent either necromancy or obtenerbration, while by neccisity having massive fluff retcons. For example the Giovanni embrace becomes pointless without their unique necromantic insights or the rigid/stunted nature of the mortis paths.
In the end they'll end up at square 1 as supplementry works create new complication, simplication comes through refinement, not decimation.
I'm dreading what they're going to do with mage mechanically, the fluff I can ignore but the sphere system is already a mess.

Forgive me, it's been some twenty years or so since I played this game, but aren't the Black Hand and the Sabbat two different things?

What would you say was wrong with the Revised edition Sabbat guide? I liked it.
As a matter of principle, I just don't like how they explained how the sausage was made when it came to the Sabbat. Maybe it was my STs back in the day, but the Sabbat has always been more fun to me as this mysterious, subversive, almost conspiratorial foe that the Camarilla was scared shitless of. Then the Sabbat books come out and they're revealed as a mix of edgy bois and riff-raff that just... don't make sense in the metaplot. Seriously, the Camarilla, Masquerade and all, is frequently described as having issues with mortals, from independent hunters to full on Technocratic Men-in-Black. How is the Sabbat, the far more obvious, disorganized and deranged sect, allowed to take over major coastal cities? For that shit, I'd rather have rowdy Anarchs.

Also, I really don't like the whole "pack" shit they have going on. If I wanted to play as a supernatural monster that operates in packs and has a strict hierarchy, I'd just play Werewolf instead. At least there I'd get the +3 Strength and aggravated damage as default, and I'd get to go to the beach without turning into an one-man pyrotechnics effect.

Hololive EN are starting a Hunter the Vigil 1e campaign. I fully expect insanity.
I said it in the Tabletop Community Watch thread: I was mildly disappointed at how smoothly the chargen session went. It was the same experience teaching new players about the game and how to make their characters as any time I did it, including the same stupid questions and silly mistakes (not knowing the first dot in an attribute is free). I'm not a fan of the Hololive EN girls, but I'll be watching at least a couple of sessions. I fully expect things to derail and devolve into a lot of jokes and silly BS... which is also my experience playing these games. Calli's tardwrangling skills will be put to the test either way, since she's clearly not an experienced GM/ST.

The most surprising thing on that stream was that the girls were actually making an effort. Sure, they were memeing with their on-stage personas, but they all seemed to be earnest. Which is more than can be said for most oWod or nWoD games I've been a part of. There was always someone just phoning it in back then. I don't even care about the memey characters either, World of Darkness is supposed to feel like a caricature of the real world, after all, and groups full of unusual characters are just more fun to play with.

ETA: I'll probably go light on them anyway. They're clearly newbies who don't know better, which is something we all were at one point, and I'm sure they'll be constrained by management (Clover is deathly afraid of controversy).

Sort of. There is a group in the Sabbat called the Black Hand who are a militant sub-sect of the Sabbat. (See Caine's Chosen: The Black Hand) The "True Black Hand" (aka Tal'mahe'Ra) is probably what you're thinking about.

EDIT: I do worry a bit how they're going to handle the Sabbat since they're not the most politically correct groups out there in the World of Darkness. You can't really cram social justice politics into them.
