I can’t see Shoe surviving any normal job. She probably wouldn’t last a week at the types of jobs she puts on a pedestal. I can’t see her being a decent waitress, barista, taxi driver, warehouse worker, caretaker, teacher, etc. Her actual skills are very minimal and her commentary is basic. If she didn’t have legions of simps to help fund her lifestyle, she’d be forced to work one of those jobs I mentioned above and I think she’d see it as below herself because she’s an “influencer”. The career path of being internet famous is very unlikely for most people to turn into stable work, and even if it does, that work doesn’t last forever and you’ll eventually be forced to do different things. Shoe is exactly what not to do in your twenties if you wish to have better job prospects later on.

I won’t mention them by name but there was a character in a recent video game who, in summary, was pushed into a starlet’s life but recognized how impermanent and psychologically unhealthy it was. So left to essentially just marry well while she was young and beautiful in exchange for a more stable and fulfilling life. Basically the same premise as Shoe’s existence but more dramatic and more earnestly followed through. And personality-wise the two could scarcely be more different. Shoe is just much more trifling and difficult to take seriously than the life goals of some pixels

I know it’s an autistic comparison, so mark me as such if you think it’s right, but I also think it’s a good summary of how basic and phoney Shoe is. More than a broadly drawn video game character with a relatively prosaic motivation who is written to entangle themselves in interpersonal feuds for the sake of drama.
