Except I honestly can't blame parents for not wanting their kid to be autistic, especially autistic to an unknown degree (so, possibly not mild). Linking it to MMR is a misplaced fear but at one point he ridiculed those hOrRiblE abLEiSt parents fearing autism so much they'd rather have their kids suffer from measles but be mentally normal. He definitely failed the attempt at reaching hardcore antivaxxers, people who aren't antivaxx but could be reached and compelled by the antivaxx message and people who don't want to or aren't sure about taking the covid vaccine, which I'd argue are different groups with some overlap. I guess that's true of most of his deboonking videos like the flat earth or climate change ones, just preaching to the choir.
So that's not interesting nor relevant except the tiny segment about Covid at the end. But I noticed something in his comments, it was more prominent something like a week ago: there were fans of his comparing the Wakefield study to Lisa Littman's ROGD study.
They really have to bring up the troon shit everywhere, don't they? I haven't read the study, but it's a different field (psychology), it hasn't been retracted because contrary to Wakefield's paper, there's actual evidence to support ROGD. The problem with the autism-MMR vaccines link wasn't that Wakefield took the parent's observations into consideration but that the sample size was too small, he lied about his results and he had a massive conflict of interests on top of all. I'm sure interviewing the parents or caretakers of children and teenagers in psychology and even medicine is par for the course.
Other interesting comments were those wondering about how such a paper got through The Lancet's peer review process in the first place, which hbomberguy glossed over. Heh, stop thinking about that, it's not possible that methodologically faulty studies that inform public health decisions get published in credible journals all the time, no, no way! Trust this snarky layman leftist Youtuber, he knows what he's talking about.
