2010 was about the time I stopped consuming mainstream media. Since then the only notable things I can remember watching are John Wick, Joker, Tiger king, Cuck, and Cuties. Cuties was just a bad movie until about the halfway point. I went in figuring the controversy was just a bunch of pearl clutching but I was proven wrong. That movie could have been done tastefully, but those were fan service camera angles.
I guess you were just pulling the first name out of your hat that you knew had a negative connotation. I'm not going to give you a history lesson tonight. I've had to do it on several occasions and I usually don't mind, but I'm watching a anime tonight and that would take more time than I'd like to consume.

Skipped that one. Not into drama, not into kids, when I watch a controversial movie it better be controversial because of poor quality, not because of Internet outrage.
Watch an episode of Sherlock if you get a chance (any from seasons 1-3 will do, they are pretty much stand-alone stories and if you know your basic Sherlock Holmes lore and characters you'll understand it with no problem). Some folks I know love it, some say it's pretentious.

The internet outrage was too much for me to resist. I'm the type that has to confirm. If I'm told I shouldn't do something and I know that doing it won't actually physically harm me or put me in jail I'll try it. I have a personal motto that I'll try anything twice. This song isn't necessarily topical but it comes to mind. It was a hit in my rebellious stage so maybe that's why. Maybe the start of my rebellious stage. I don't know that it ever ended.
