Yesterday, UK-based Gay Times reported that MOGA, a Muslim-owned Melbourne brand that sells women’s headscarves and shawls, would be re-issuing their pro-LGBTQ rainbow-print scarf for Sydney, Austrailia’s annual Mardi Gras celebration.

The Pride flag-esque hijab was created last year to support Australia’s legalization of same-sex marriage — legislation which Australia’s parliament overwhelmingly voted in favor of. The collection sold out in less than a week.

This year’s Mardi Gras celebration is in its 40th year. The company’s founder, Azahn Munas, told the Gay Times, “Our campaign aims to highlight the diversity of crowds who attend the Sydney Mardi Gras each year, which includes members of the LGBTQ community and their many supporters and allies…We also wanted to celebrate the diverse nature of our fans, who range from trendy Muslim ‘hijabsters’ to festival goers to drag queens, who all love our bold and colourful designs.”

According to their site, MOGA is a brand that, “prides itself on creating innovative fashion that is unique, bold, and daring, celebrating its wearer’s individuality and personal style.”

Time will tell if a Jewish mitpachat, or headscarf, brand will follow suit, creating their own LGBTQ-supporting rainbow hued headscarf.

The scarves are available to purchase from MOGA’s Asos boutique for 45 Pounds (64 US dollars).

Obviously the cure for religiously inspired homophobia is corporate sponsorship once a year for a few weeks.

It’s really a shame because I love the rainbow aesthetic and would probably wear it more often if people didn’t immediately assume “gay” these days. Not that I can really blame them though, it has been so ingrained in the US that when most people see rainbows of any kind, they automatically think “gay”.

I’ll admit that the glasses don’t look that bad and could see myself getting the “diversity” pair, but the watch band and the Popsocket are butt ugly. The designer of that Popsocket design should be fired for making such an eyesore

I saw some lesbian radfems describe that flag as:
White = straight white men
Baby blue and pink = who love gender stereotypes and creepy infantile paedo shit
Black and brown = using black people as a shield
Rainbow = to overrun the LGB movement and use it for their own bullshit

It makes perfect sense from a marketing perspective: you can only hawk so many cheap flags and rainbow coloured tat to LGBs, but if you can get them on blockers and hormones for life and buying a ton of expensive surgery (and paying to fix the complications from it) and buying a load of new "gender affirming" shit (think old autogynephilic men buying tons of shit marketed at teenage girls, FtMs buying stuff that claims it's for manly men), then you've got a lot more consumers and much bigger profits. Also has the added bonus of being more easily accepted by homophobes, because it's making all the butch lesbians and camp gay men appear to be straight men and straight women respectively, so it gets a lot more support.

Not once have I ever gone out of my way to buy products like these, nor have I ever had a rainbow flag in my possession in any format. It's especially obvious the corporates don't give a fuck unless they can use it as a shield to fuck over other minorities and women and poor people. You have to be upper class to keep up with all the new woke shibboleths and navelgazing, normal people don't have time or energy, they're busy working. Also employing 50% men and 50% troons means a company can claim there's no problem with sexism and still avoid dealing with maternity pay and leave and keep women out, so it suits them fine.
They still deal with businesses in countries where gay men are thrown off rooftops and lesbians are raped, and they don't even help LGBT people in their own countries. I saw a BBC article about a bunch of trans zoomers who'd bought a house together and set up a trans homeless shelter in it. Where the fuck were all these businesses and groups like Stonewall and GIRES with all their millions then? As one of those letters, I just find it all so patronizing and repugnant. Especially because this wasn’t even really a thing prior to gay marriage getting legalized. Anybody with a memory span longer than that of a goldfish should realize that these companies only started pretending to give a shit after it became safe to do so. I especially hate seeing “love wins” or “love is love” emblazoned on things in 2021… yes, thank you, your support means so much to me right now. What’s your next feelgood campagin?
