He was bragging about how he needed 120 credits to be a CPA!!! and that it had to be so much more than my schooling (156 undergrad credits plus 36 graduate credits), and then started back with the insulting when I pointed out that to be a CPA (at least in my state) you need 150 credits. 120 is just to be able to take the exam that he's been posting to prove how smart he is.

Moral of the story is that he can't add and that accounting, despite his parents being disappointed that he went into it, is the only degree worth getting. Because it makes you smarter, more successful, and better-looking than every Kiwi.

He also seemed to be implying that accounting was a "technical skill". I'm not sure if he was saying he thought it was STEM, but he was putting down @flossman for not being in a technical program (despite MLIS being pretty technical) and claimed that he was.

I think these guys have the idea that since they've lost in the looks, sexual and social areas of life, they make up for it in intelligence. Not only is that a coping mechanism, but it's also a baseless assumption. Their myopic nature prevents them from understanding some cold realities, one of those is that in almost all situations, there is someone smarter than you in the room. This is why I place more importance on wisdom than intelligence. Lots of people are really smart, but there are fewer that are truly wise.

I'd love to see him go through the program we did. I had a professor who would automatically fail a paper if even one source was from Wikipedia. That's where Captain Accounting would get everything. It was great when he said he'd just tell a person to "google it" for a paper.
