Not a speedrun autist so may be wrong but as far as I know, he is banned outright from submitting all runs as of recently. I agree it's weird he wasn't banned with the first offense, other cheaters are given next to no leniency when their cheating is demonstrable.

The way speedrun.com operates, the moderators for each individual game decide amongst themselves whether or not accept/reject runs or ban people. The logic being, the people that know the game best are the ones most qualified to determine it, rather than site admins that have no idea about each of the thousands of games on the site. There's obviously problems with that system as well, but it doesn't tend to have too many issues most of the time.

Because of this, it tends to vary a lot how each group handles cheaters. Some offenses, like passing off a TAS as your own run, usually will get you banned immediately. Other times, they'll look at mitigating factors: did the person withdraw the run before its approval, did the person admit to cheating before an investigation, is it credible to believe that it's "an honest mistake", etc. From that, some will go with a "one strike and you're out" policy, some will give a second chance but require additional verification (hand cams, live streaming, or the like, depending on the particular infraction), others might just let it go this time but watch future subs with closer attention. As a side note, this also does make it that people who cheat in one game can still be unrestricted from subbing runs for other games.

All that said, in his case, the initial decision of the mod team on the MC page was to remove the singular run in question and leave the rest alone, but then they removed another run and (I believe) he chose to remove all his runs and self-ban, most likely because he was probably going to get banned anyway.

Oh yeah, this is interesting. I've always wondered how Dream would deal with politics and being in the public eye.

There was a BBH stream in mid 2019 where BBH made an "I identify as an attack helicopter" joke. This caused an upset in chat, and BBH invited anyone offended to join a discord call after the stream.

There BBH defended himself by saying he thinks anything should be made a joke of, everyone has free speech, you've probably heard this whole debate a thousand times. Dream also joined the VC and said pretty much the same thing, saying he and his friends regularly make jokes about each other some would consider offensive.

It was argued back that using the joke was something of an ignorant PR blunder, given the politicisation in online communities in recent years, using a joke associated with that politicisation implicitly makes certain members of the fanbase feel unwelcome, which is a bad PR move.

Neither BBH or Dream accepted that argument at first, but pretty soon they were agreeing that as a public figure, it was unwise for BBH to use the joke... But still vehemently defended the point that anything should be able to be joked about and everyone has free speech. Then this dude called Yinscape joined and gloated about how he isn't a public figure and he can be as offensive as he likes.

The demographic on the section of server ran by dream was kinda right leaning before it began to get popular after BBH partnered with Skeppy. He had no filter on chat, casual racism usually went unnoticed or unpunished in the very early days, and competitive toxicity was outright encouraged and considered part of the fun. It all kinda smacked of teen libertarian. I've been told BBH used to love to debate politics with people. Not everyone in their core group was right leaning, but most are.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the core crowd he knew from MCPVP rather than Munchy, but pretty much. Dream ran the Prison server and was technically a co-owner but there was a general sense that he was junior to BBH, Sapnap/Pandas is a mod, Antfrost is an admin. George was a developer for Dream's prison server.

I feel like at first it probably would have just been George and Dream, but Sapnap is kind of a cheeky guy who's got no shame about asking for stuff, so I figure he probs nagged Dream to let him join the videos. Since it worked so well for George and Sapnap, it looks like the goal is to get everyone else in Dream's core group in on the youtube thing. Dream sharing his success with his friends I guess. The core Munchy Staff team is sort of a Dream fueled e-fame mill right now.

You are right I was mixing up the terms, I was referring to them both using different terms in different posts but my main point Is illustrated well by the screencap. They only combed through a handful of runs and should have used the same process on other top streamers to give contrast as the graphic they show later to compare him to other streamers also has a very small sample size.

They should have gone through someone like forsens streams and got an equal amount of runs and put it through the exact same process

I'm going to be a bit contrarian here. Dream's content in the context of Minecraft is actually both unique at the time and also entertaining. The Death Swap and modding the game in various dumb ways to try and complete it with his faggot friends was refreshing, it wasn't just another "let's play" type of boring crap. There's only one good channel that does "let's play", and it's Ethoslab. The rest are either boring or just suck.

His manhunt stuff is really fun. Is it scripted? Well, I'll be a bit contrarian again. I think there's a pretty general framework to it, but at large I think it's genuine. He uploaded the full footage of his previous VS 4 hunters video where he assraped his gay friends with a punch 2 bow. I think they do have a large framework to follow, we know there's rules such as Nether travelling and Portal trapping isn't allowed. The most recent one, he didn't even make it to a stronghold, got fucked by a dumb splash potion. That was lame. Definitely not scripted.

If anyone can just gain the algorithm and ride it, we'd be seeing far more vapid cunts with 10 million subscribers and be able to buy a nice house. The guy does have talent, he's also not a communist troon, too bad he's a cheating faggot and can't just concede. He will just become more and more popular, his infidelity and cheating niggery will just be a tiny footnote, but I probably won't be watching any of his new videos.
