Hats are also used to collect fecal samples to test for things like e coli and bowel disorders. Considering the nature of her bathroom habits, I am inclined to believe this was given to her for poop bucket reasons.
On a very restrictive diet they do...Chinny isn't restricting at all. Those twisty mistys alone are ensuring she's not losing weight, let alone the daily Burger King visits plus all the other shit she shoves in her gullet.
