Whether because Don Vito or not Bam is pretty clearly a repressed homosexual and he took an irreversible plunge when the love of his life Ryan Dunn wrapped his car around a tree going 140 in a 55 zone. Not saying they ever did anything or were sekritly together etc. but his reaction to Dunn's death which he is still not over and probably never will be is what you see more often when not-platonic love is involved than when it's your very best bro from childhood to today that kicked the bucket.

I loved Phil Margera, but seriously. He became famous because of a skit where his son declares “I feel like kicking my dad’s ass all day today!” and next thing he knows, he’s “fat fat fat” and it’s on billboards, Tony Hawk games, his whole identity. It’s the whole theme of a VLB episode.

Bam is where he is at right now because first and foremost he treated his own father like a jackass (pun not intended). He didn’t even show any gratitude when his dad became his accountant after he became famous.

I wish Phil did have more to say about what a train wreck his famous son is.

I know I'm beating a dead horse or kicking a man while he's down, but for someone to look older than their own mother and NOT have progeria is really an incredible accomplishment in degeneracy.

What’s even more insane is that Bam’s dad aged better than Bam. This was Phil in January 2021.

I don’t even think it was Dunn being the love of his life but Dunn’s death smacked Bam upside the head with reality of his own mortality and he was totally not prepared for it. I remember Bam commenting that Dunn was the first person he knew who died. I think Dunn’s death shattered the decade long adolescent joyride Bam was on. It fucked up his head bad, but not esp because he dearly loved Dunn, but because it made him realize he was going to die too.

Bam has shown a total inability to cope with the realities of adulthood - simple shit like taking care of his own bills, managing his house, etc…are totally beyond him so his parents do it for him. So the hard realities of death, addiction and childcare have just destroyed him.

If man has never even managed the most basic of independent adulthood stuff then actual difficult responsibilities and challenges are like a opossum vs a Mac truck.

Imagine what happens if his mom or dad die. I wonder if his brain was functioning well enough to register his aunt dying last week. I figure he would use it to go on an extra long bender but his family might expect him to return home for her funeral too.
