What's funny is that the Republicans wanted to go to war when Hitler invaded Poland, but FDR refused cause he loved the things that Hitler was doing. It wasn't until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor that FDR declared war on Japan, with Germany declaring war on the US. So, in that case, FDR was forced to go to war with Germany.

Fuck, even if we're just counting evil huwhite segregationists there have been many, far worse single acts of political violence. Even the version of Tulsa that isn't getting blown up into the Shoah 0.5 was obviously worse.
Republicans were largely isolationist though the candidate they put up in 1940 did favor intervention. But FDR was practically doing everything he could to intervene without openly declaring war, there was basically already an undeclared submarine war in the Atlantic before Pearl Harbor happened.
