Monkey gate is from Granblue Fantasy.

Basically, they started a new lineup of characters, themed around Chinese Zodiac, the first one being Andira the monkey.

She was pretty fucking Good (still is) but her drop rate was abysmal. Someone put in 6k$ and got a single copy. Do not note that to get a character you only need to draw their weapon once, but sometimes their weapons are used in grids.

This sparked a rework of how pulls work in gbf (after 300, you get a character of your choosing and it's easy to do this several times a year), they refunded everyone's rolls and the JP government got involved AFAIK.

Nowadays GBF is one of the most accesible gacha since most of your power comes from farmable grids but holy shit did it have some bullshit.

Jesus fuck. Thats fascinating how people are wired. I have spending problems, so this isnt remotely judgemental. But just I actually played that game. I had fun, I put $20 to pull something I wanted. I didnt get it and was like oh fuck this bullshit and stopped because it was bullshit that in like 10 attempts or whatever I didnt get the thing I wanted. Its weird how I can drop a ton on dumb bullshit and be immune to this bullshit. And this guy is like havent bought a video game in a decade oops 16K gone in this thing.
