So basically the entire video is an appeal to his loner retard audience of children who fail school and "wear a mask," none of which Dream can relate to. Fortunately he reinforces that they would be happier if they ditched the meds and were just unique little butterflies.
It's always great when kids quit prescriptions cold turkey that they shouldn't have to begin with. That certainly doesn't cause more problems.
Good job Clay you piece of shit.
The thing about the video is that "Dream" is attempting to portray
depression, not anything about being unique or eccentric in some way that separates you from others.
Throwing out the pills in the video which would be proscribed for a reason, and writing on the doctors notes "you are not normal. . .
and that's a good thing" is suggesting that depression is some kind of personality trait that makes you unique, and that's
good.
To anyone with depression that sentiment couldn't be further from the truth or less helpful. Being complacent when there's something wrong with you is harmful. These people pretend as if in a bid to be "normal" you have to cast a wider net to incorporate mental health issues which might be
common, but not
normalized into being apart of your personality, which
does normalize it and downplay it. Doing that is the epitome of not taking those mental health issues seriously, and portraying them as a trivial character trait in the way Dream does certainly isn't. It's ironic since Dream and his fans would claim the opposite, and stress how totally serious mental health is.
The people most likely to be fans of Dream (often kids/teens/young adult women) have cheapened the actual impact and importance of mental health issues like depression and anxiety because they
do make it apart of who they are in a
positive way, and use it as an excuse to reinforce their degenerate habits instead of getting help for themselves and understanding that being depressed isn't good for you, and it needs to be treated in a serious way.
It's even more gross that Dream would make a video and song like that and admit that he's never really struggled or found life very difficult. If he wanted to be sympathetic then he wouldn't have portrayed the person in the video as himself, that he did so makes him look manipulative.
