Melinda, you are aware that most teens with jobs aren't expected to basically live on their own? Any family with sense isn't gonna force a kid who can only work part time at dogshit wages to live solo (so anyone outside of your bloodline really). They'll probably be expected to contribute to something, like paying for some of their own utilities and services, but they will still generally earn their money to either save or spend. Outside of experience, that's the main reason to get a job at that age.
