One point that he always repeats is that back in the day everyone was super duper pahsitive and were overjoyed whenever he posted a new video, no matter how low effort the videos are, but suddenly those fucking nudniks became spoiled, selfish and entitled and demanded things like direct capture, longer videos so that 19/20 of their new upload alerts aren't a shitty 10 minute DSP video, they wanted edited khantent so they wouldn't have to watch this retard bumble through menus for the first 2 parts of every playthrough, and to trim the fat whenever he got lost in a game (every 20 minutes to half an hour). Of course, whenever presented with such criticisms, Dave would always do what he does best - cope. My khemkhorder videos give you a RAW, UNFILTERED, UNEDITED, FACT-OF-THE-MATTER, NO BULLSHIT experience of the real me, reee! It's as if you were watching a friend next to you on the couch snorting, belching, farting, throat-clearing and lip-smacking while playing video games poorly!

Besides, it's easy making edited khantent, what's hard is playing the RAW GAME! I mean just think about that statement for more than a microsecond, don't you need raw content in order to be able to make edited content? Imagine if a farmer had a bunch of wheat fields and another farmer had wheat fields and a mill, so he can turn the wheat into flour, which makes him a much larger profit. Imagine if then the first farmer started coping by saying "MAKING FLOUR IS EASY, WHAT'S HARD IS HARVESTING THE RAW WHEAT!" despite the fact that the second farmer both harvests the wheat and turns it into flour. Makes sense if you don't think about it.

To make another analogy for the whole situation I discussed in this 'tismpost, imagine if the only car Ford ever made was the Model T and after newer cars with better features started coming out, they'd refuse to improve their designs and instead turned the copeposting up to 11 and only ever talked about how drivers today are entitled and want a closed chassis, better suspension, better breaks, a more ergonomic design, faster speeds etc. Back when we first made Model Ts people were overjoyed at how affordable they are but now they criticize them and call them outdated! Don't they know that we are pioneers of mass producing cars?

Then again I don't have a degree in business and finance so what the fuck would I know.

Goes to show how I was spot on with the assessment of him refusing to take on a 9-5 ever again because he finally found the low effort high reward job he had long dreamed of. It's not about recapturing his glory days, it's about holding on to that easy path through life with no ups and downs. He will never stop being butt-hurt about things changing in a way that's demanding on him.

And your car analogy is apt. As I've said, it's somewhat respectable when an entity chooses stagnation and accepts the consequences. Phil did the former but not the latter because he's a spoiled child.

The problem with sub only mode is thaf people dont want to fill up their fucking inboxes with spam because Phil's dumb ass splits videos into a bunch of pieces still.

Its the aame reason he lost so many sibs when he began spamming 10 minute parts amd everyone memed at him and unsubbed because you'd go to your subs video list and there'd be 200 in a row from Phil.

Its been like 10 years and this mother fucker has the exact same issues as before. It worked on twitch because you could follow him without getting shit spammed in your inbox.

And if you AREN'T subbed you basically have to search darksydephil on YouTube and scroll past detractor content he's not even the first result.

Its MUCH harder to tell when he's live than it used to be when you'd hit 'followed' on twitch, especially since most people follow (compared to youtube) a handful of twitch streamers (or maybe its just me).

Phil's ability to shoot himself in the foot by not understanding engagement/the platforms he uses is wild.

I think the point that Dave was trying to make with that statement was that it's harder to be entertaining "live/unedited" than it is to go back and edit a video to be entertaining. Of course this is retarded cause he's implying he's entertaining the entire time he's on camera cause he's just so great and completely discounts people who put tons of work into their edited videos cause they would rather people see a few minutes of great content than fifty hours of unwatchable shit.

I’d just like to add onto this comment what a mess Phil’s chat was the other day.
He’s so used to only having to read messages with dollars attached to them that, even when his chat slows to a crawl, he still ignores most of them while talking.
One guy had to repeat his message three times before Phil finally responded to him, even though the chat was hardly even moving. And there were still plenty of messages directly talking to Phil that he never read out loud.
He’ll keep using the “sub-only mode owns the trolls and makes the streams chill!” as a selling point but I’m betting that deep down he’ll miss forcing his inner autism circle to spend money in order to talk to him. He has no excuse to ignore anyone’s message anymore but he still thinks talking directly to him should be something special.

What exactly is his excuse for removing the stream and reuploading it in multiple parts? We all know he just wants to spam multiple videos for ad revenue but he wouldn't come out and say that so I'm just curious how he justifies doing it like this.

I think it's less about money and more about nostalgia. This is how DSP did it in his " golden age" and he doesn't want to let it go. He's like the person in his mid-40s still talking about the big game in high school.

Control is the primary reason, I think. More than laziness. He wants to control what's being put on up on his channel a lot in really weird ways. There's also a lot of stuff that used to happen on Twitch when he'd go on break, or start up the stream, or end the stream where he'd beg or guilt his fans. He doesn't want that going on to youtube because...I'm honestly not sure since he will upload things that are him outright begging but those moments are different I guess?

I was thinking about this today and that example was literally what I was using in my head. If Phil ran Ford, he would have declared Shelby a detractor and never would have hired him.

I've said it before but I think it bears repeating that Phil, for all his posturing as a business owner, should never be allowed to run a business. He overlooks so many things that are so important for businesses, especially his particular type of them. Off the top of my head, he doesn't seem to understand the value of doing shit for free for his fans. I used to watch this one streamer who did like one stream every few weeks where him and his buddies would play a tabletop game he and one of his friends designed. He incentivized tipping by having events that would happen in the game if watchers reached certain tips amounts, and the show was raking in thousands of dollars a stream. He found ways to implement things that would collect the overflow of money when a goal was hit so it would start counting towards other goals or towards a meta goal. A number of times throughout the years of this show running, he would have streams where he would come out before the show started and say "You guys have been so good to us this past X, don't give us any money today, all the goals are on the house today, we got some really cool animations made, please enjoy the stream and thanks so much for the support". Built a lot of community support that way.

Fuck, just look at that one guy from New Zealand who streams himself doing wood carvings and doesn't or didn't have a way to send him money, and when people subbed he would straight up say "Don't do that, you can watch this for free, what are you doing?" Being genuine and giving as much to your fans as you can't without demanding anything of them pays in dividends in the streaming/content creator industry and because Phil refuses to do any sort of research or even just think about what he's doing outside of taking money, he's never going to see any sort of real success, only getting propped up like a 30 year old whose parents pay his rent for him.

Why would it not be anl337, he probably used his real name by mistake when he intended to tip under an alias. The trolls channels are monetized and exclusively cover DSP, they want him to keep playing the game. He makes all of their content that they monetize.

They don't hate DSP, even though they pretend to. They love him, he pays their bills. They would be down hudnreds or thousands of dollars if he stopped streaming or stopped a game they were doing a TIHYDP video. all337 gets superchats too.

Anyone that makes money hating on someone, does not really hate that person.

Any channel covering any of these people that has ads on it is not a troll channel, they do not hate him. It's just business, I would guarantee they give money to him to keep him going. They need him.
