General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Just an iceberg meme pic I found, while luring around on /vt/

You'll have to forgive me since I only joined the train last September but I was under the assumption that up until 2020, Holo was rather niche which is why some of the talents were allowed to get away with some somewhat risque stuff.
Then after the Taiwan incident and in the wake of the En Branch boom things started to get slightly more restrictive.
I’m personally aware of four major hits to Hololive, some was collateral damage, others intentional:

1) December 2019 was the month Youtube sanitized the site of ASMR and other semi-erotic content to be more kid-friendly (because fuck actually parenting your kids amirite?). This might’ve been the first Adpocolyse, don’t quote me on this. Highly likely the reason why we don’t have swimsuits and/or erolive anymore. Collateral.

2) Mio getting hit with two copystrikes in a row, forcing her to take a hiatus from streaming for 3 months in order for them to expire. This led to the domino effect of Holos privating or straight-up deleting streams, colloquially known as the Holocaust. This is why Cover is autistic with perms. Targeted.

3) Mano Aloe’s harassment and subsequent graduation. Community-wise, this literally out of nowhere announcement would later result in a united front against chink pressure. I don’t know what changed at Cover following this, though. No public changes have been observed. Targeted/collateral

4)Taiwan. We all know how this went, chink infiltration/spam of chats, social media, 4chan; dissolution of the Chinese Hololive branch; revoked perms for certain games (Muse Dash, Genshin Impact, Arknights, Azur Lane are the ones I know of); Holos striking their content from bilibili, and more. Definitely targeted.

Trying to match up each EN’s stream schedule and plotting a course to see when they were still the “default” Hololive streamer and when they came into their own, as well as the various permissions Cover has acquired, in order to see if/how restrictive they became afterwards following their success, though…that would take autism FAR beyond what I am capable of.

I'm pretty sure the first adpocalypse was back in 2016, when actual clickbait was a plague and Youtube imposed the 10 minute rule while heavily penalizing channels that put out either infrequent or shorter content. This notably hurt animation channels a ton, leading to the rise of storytime animation (later helped by a tweak to the algo that favored long-form but monthly content)

Huh. Do you remember when YT began double-playing ads? For some reason my mind keeps linking an adpocalpyse to the kiddie-safe youtube.

Resident menhera talked about Coco's graduation. All of the JP branch definitely knew about it after all. But like Mio mama, it is when Coco officially announce it is when the impact finally hit and able to share with their viewers.

Guess that kinda explains how Rushia managed to bond more with Coco when there were clips about it last week.

Thank you for that Rundown and I can see how those series of events probably led to everything that's happening now.
The only thing that really makes me upset is that now websites like the Slate are reporting on this event and making their own musings about the situation and V-tubers.

Didn't it take them nearly a year after the 1.16 update came out to actually patch the Holoserver due to Pekora wanted to try the new stuff out and to fix a couple of bugs at the same time. Suppose this is one of the benefits HoloEN being on Realms that they get them updates pretty dam quickly. Although I know Ame said one day she would create an official proper EN Minecraft server.

Actually, watson said they already moved to a private server, I think it was during the charity stream (because even tho she had her render distance cranked up to 11, the chunks weren't loading because of server side bottleneck).

since coco announcement made, and not surprisingly my YT feed filled with related content and wonder why polka not popping up on my feed. then checking to her channel and just realised another of her creative way to use platform. she make a freechat room by using Schedule live stream.

i wonder if its inspired by Kson and also kson intention when we saw freespace livestream on her channel

edit:
aight yeah now i feel dumb now

Bruh. A lot of Hologirl have them free chat room since forever. If anything, It's Kson that decide to adopt the practice.

Well bugger me I'm out of touch and probably because I was popping in and out of the chairty stream most the day so I guess I missed that. Cheers for informing me.
