Huh, I guess Woed and Elogee are doing contests now? Intradesting. I hope that they handle the money well, I’m still pretty sure Rumetzen embezzled the money from the Wanderers Library Science Fiction contest so I would have personally been more hesitant, but Fish is a former Boy Scout and there’s more eyeballs on them here so it’s probably fine. Probably.

the details are unclear, but if I had to speculate its a mix of the complete PR disaster that just happened + intense debate over what punishment should be brought to offending staff. regardless, it was bad enough that DrBleep has taken a month-long sabbatical, Modern_Erasmus has resigned, and Tayloritkin has left nearly all SCP related discord servers and dropped off the face of the earth for the time being (it should be noted that he is on vacation, although the timing of this decision is certainly not ideal)

Modern Erasmus showed their cowardice when they publicly refused to follow my wishes to delete my work, I’m glad he’s gone and I hope that his name is forgotten quickly. After contributing nothing more than adding strife and fear to the teams he led, he will hopefully be replaced by someone confident in themselves or preferably, nobody at all.

Bleep going on a break is a pretty good sign that the temperature inside the system is boiling, given their relatively recent ascension to power.

Taylor is a spoken fool who will not be missed.

I can’t imagine anyone less personality-suited to run a contest than Woed. His skin is so thin it’s translucent. Hopefully they’re starting as they mean to go on. A meme contest is just a horrible and divisive idea, forced memes are never funny and the crack fic contests consistently produces the worst material on the site. What were they thinking?

It's weird that staff can just drop off the map and return whenever they feel like it.

There’s supposed to be a process for going inactive and coming back but whether or not it’s applied is a math formula of personal prestige divided by time passed since retirement.

Very late post, but it brought a smile to my face to hear the exact same criticisms I've been screaming to deaf ears since 2019 coming from the mouth of another user, followed by the aforementioned ears magically regaining hearing and moving Heaven and Earth too see it addressed.

Not pretending like anything is actually happening in response, or that any actual semblance of transparency will be adopted, but it's still really vindicating. Not as flattering as genuine intentional imitation, but still vindicating.

I see that Woedenaz has adopted the Kaktus style of passive-aggression. Actually, it's not fair of me to call it a Kaktus thing, because his response to that comment is actually decent and something I can generally get behind. I sometimes get aggravated by some of the wiki's dumber meme articles, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter that much if someone wants to write one. Woedenaz is just being a passive-aggressive dick here, which is a little strange because from what I've seen he's generally pretty good at not doing that.

There's theoretically a system to decide who is and isn't allowed to come back to their original position after going inactive, but some people do almost nothing for years while still keeping their positions (Joreth took years to be bumped down for inactivity, so did Gears and a bunch of other old users). It really depends on how much they care about applying the rules to you.

Rounderhouse is heavily influenced by a group of friends, myself (formerly) included, who were pretty critical of the staff and especially the “mainstream” staff way of doing things for a long time so it’s not really surprising. I am impressed by his eloquence, he’s not mincing words and I respect that.

Any “unofficial” contest being allowed to stand is yet another entry in the legendary dynasty of terrible precedents being set by staff in 2021. Who is thinking that giving Mr. Diet Rounderhouse’s crew carte Blanche to hold contests for monetary value is a good idea? Not only does it cheapen the ‘official’ prize of a Feature, but the SCP community as a whole if the point of writing contests of isn’t for the sake of innovative writing but for gift cards and discord nitro. The fact that the staff don’t feel strong enough to shut it down speaks volumes to how weak they have become since February.

Also, I cannot stress this point enough, the notion of a Meme Contest is an awful idea. Isn’t the 6k contest still happening? How gauche. Really, it’s telling & sad that elite site members got so bored during the grand somber creation of a new Series that they took their worst idea and made it a reality in a desperate reach for novelty.
