Oh yeah, I know, but in a lot of cases we don't know how they arise or what causes it. In the example you listed, we have tons of kids who get molested who don't go that direction and if they do we can't really examine what makes them different from the ones who don't because its too late and their narrative is wholly unreliable.

Thats more what I mean, we know they come from somewhere its really hard to nail down how and why. Especially for more strange ones.

My favorite example is quicksand fetishism. That was a whole weird niche of porn at one point, people sinking in quicksand. The problem with that statistic is that it's almost all self-report and someone who's evil enough to rape a child will have no problem lying in order to garner sympathy. And as it turns out, most of them are lying.
This does not refute the theory that paraphilias are acquired rather than innate. Over the years I've encountered a lot of people who could trace their fetishes to instances of childhood trauma.
