EDIT: What I mean is there tends to be a belief here that the paraphilia comes into being on it's own, that you merely are AGP and then act it out. I think the way we are watching it play out in real time on twitter proves that paraphilia can to a degree be learned.
paraphilias being 'made' rather than being innate 'born this way' characteristics has been observed for a long time, most notably in the observation that a huge percentage of child molesters were themselves molested when they were children

Oh yeah, I know, but in a lot of cases we don't know how they arise or what causes it. In the example you listed, we have tons of kids who get molested who don't go that direction and if they do we can't really examine what makes them different from the ones who don't because its too late and their narrative is wholly unreliable.

Thats more what I mean, we know they come from somewhere its really hard to nail down how and why. Especially for more strange ones.

My favorite example is quicksand fetishism. That was a whole weird niche of porn at one point, people sinking in quicksand. It rose and fell with the trope of quicksand in movies, and now it's very rare, implying that there's a strong social component to paraphilias. They may even have a finite lifespan.

Don't know if this was posted but why is there literal CHADS transitioning? This makes no sense, I can understand when it's an skinny short 19 year old with negative self-esteem or some shit, but why? He looks fine as a man, now he's looks laughable.
If he wants to dress like this, he can do it as a dude. He just needs a sword belt and a cosplay convention.

And water wings for all the nerd pussy he's going to be drowning in.

Almost every non-offending paraphile I've met had a normal or at least functional childhood and just realised it as anyone else would their sexuality when puberty hit. Therapists won't even diagnose paraphiliac disorders unless the patient is offending and/or distressed even if they're only attachted to kids/dead things/animals/etc.

So basically, only the stupid and traumatised ones get caught and added to the statistics.

Did you ever see the fetish of wanting to fuck dead men?

You’re not a psychiatrist though, right?

It might not be so traumatizing that it affects their ability to lead a normal life, but most people do experience some sort of trauma in their life. A bully, a physical injury, accidentally stumbling on a weird YouTube late at night... most people won't be too fucked up from that, but it might still (but won't always) affect their sexuality. It's undeniable that to some degree our sexuality is culturally-bound, small vs large penises, small vs large breasts, thin necks vs freakishly elongated necks... these are all things that are viewed differently in different cultures at different times. We've even seen plenty of animals raised by humans become sexually attracted to humans (I wonder if this avenue was pursued w/ regards to feral children).

I think that in 5-10 years we're going to see a rise in mask fetishism, the same way that the early BDSM scene was rife with gas mask fetishism from all the British kids who spent much of their formative years in bomb shelters with gas masks.

>"spent much of their formative years"
>it's been less than two

Bruh.

It could certainly explain why the furry community exploded when the kids who watched disney movies like Lion King grew up. For example, if you were 5 in 1993, you'd be in your teens in the mid 2000s, around the time the Furry community started/took off. Perfect timing.

And it makes sense. We can't even find any gene that influences sexuality, let alone fetishes. Some fetishes are so culture based, like women in high heels, that claiming it's inborn is completely ridiculuous. A baby doesn't display sexuality or fetish behaviour, it's obviously not inborn.

I hate to break it to you but gas masks are still a huge fetish subculture and every kink event is filled with those people.

i wonder if it also explains the explosion of hentai shit after people who grew up on early 2000s 4chan became older

"... the orgasms don't cause any sort of feeling or tingling in my nipples/breasts."

It's a joke that pops up from time to time where someone will say, " Women need to make up some shit about how their nostrils get itchy when they orgasm, then see how long it takes for TIMs to start claiming that their nostrils itch too and it's so validating!"***

I have to wonder who told this dude that women get tingly nipples when they orgasm. I sure as hell don't. So either I am an outlier or someone (likely another TIM) is talking some bullshit.

*** this joke also applies to menstrual symptoms
They must think all erogenous zones light up at the same time like a pinball machine.

The problem with that statistic is that it's almost all self-report and someone who's evil enough to rape a child will have no problem lying in order to garner sympathy. And as it turns out, most of them are lying.
This does not refute the theory that paraphilias are acquired rather than innate. Over the years I've encountered a lot of people who could trace their fetishes to instances of childhood trauma.

I read a post somewhere about a guy who could trace his inflation fetish back to watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a child, and being right at the age where he first started getting warm and fuzzy feelings towards the opposite sex and then seeing a pretty female character the same age as him turn into a giant blueberry. I think a lot of furries point back to the Disney Robin Hood movie with the fox as well.

The interesting thing of course is that 99.99% of kids who watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the same developmental stage do not get a fetish from it. So it seems to be some predisposition that gets triggered. And it doesn't have to be exposure to something inappropriate, it can be something that the vast majority of people will never find sexual. So it can be 'acquired' but something has to be there beforehand as well.

Lol I was just about to say...hmm was the furry scene in the mid 1970s exploding, because:
