YouTubers you hate that everyone else likes

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

I am starting to hate Solar Sands with every new video he puts out, or at least his fanbase. Maybe it was alright when he just focused on art critique, but when he switched over to video essay style content his audience changed and is now full of asperger zoomers searching for a new artist to hyperfixate on.

He ruins every piece of media he touches by introducing it to his fans. Words like "liminal" or "thalassophobia" are nowadays reddit tier lingo partly thanks to him. His most famous exposure has been hovewer his video "Can You Name One Object In This Photo?", which is ground zero for millions of 14 year olds listening to and making weird fan content of the album Everywhere at the End of Time. One can only imagine how it feels to have your niche community taken away by children who cry to distorted ballroom music. In other words, he has become the Behind the Meme of art.

Another YouTube I liked at first but stopped watching is Eddy Burback, he went from some guy commenting on people like Plainpotatoes to someone who went full Trump Derangement Syndrome on YouTube and Twitter.
I watched a few of his videos and thought they were mildly okay at best. I don't mind his "type" of content -- i.e. general purpose Youtubers who make videos about any subject, as opposed to focusing on single topics. Eddy is kind of like Whang, Mista GG, Gamerfrommars, Georg Rockall-Schmidt, or even JonTron where he could make a video about quite literally anything, and their fans would watch it unconditionally. For example, Mista GG originally did TCAP commentary, then did movie/TV reviews, but also dabbles in Youtube drama like talking about cancel culture and creators with sexual assault allegations -- whereas channels like RealLifeLore or Technology Connections focus on niche topics, and they would alienate their fans if they did topics on irrelevant things or did dumb skits. Eddy was definitely in the same camp as the former, so he'd make videos on topics like classic TV/movie reviews as well as technology, culture, social media, and current issues, and his fans would watch the content regardless of subject, because they liked Eddy as a person.

But yeah, I saw a few of them, thought they were okay at best, but he definitely gave off soyboy "um, yikes, that's a big nope from me!" Redditor vibes.

Maximilian dood. I don't hate the guy at all, but his channel went from cool fighting games content to a stream trashbin, and not even vod archives or highlights, but mostly reactionary videos and "ranking" stuff which is the laziest form of content. It feels that he is always trying to force hype with his "LETS FUCKING GOOO" because that's what people expect from him.

This guy keeps giant birds within his wooden privacy fence backyard and named them all after recent memes. Constantly calls them these names constantly like 'poggers' and calls hotdogs an epic ghetto meme word. His content would be fine if he'd just tone down the massive autism.
Something is not adding up about this dude, in a "this might be a future lolcow way" and I say this having watched quite a few of his videos over the past few months. People who just want to own exotic pets can end up trying to justify it as "rescuing" animals that would otherwise be euthanized or "saving them from bad owners" to gain some moral credibility for just wanting to own a fucking toucan or hyacinth macaw or whatever.

Here is a short list of shit this guy does that just makes me extremely suspicious. I am not involved with animal care in any capacity so he may be right and I may be wrong, but it just sets alarm bells off in my head:

-Constantly feeds hotdogs to animals.
-Keeps feed out in the rain and frequently has it attracting flies and rotting
-Admittedly attracts many, many rats to his property with the way he stores feed
-Has his animals ranging in to neighbors' yards all the time. He'll mention his ducks and geese and chickens escaping their enclosures and flying into other yards almost off hand. I bet that's real pleasant to live next to
-Rotates through new animals at an alarming rate. Within the last month, he's gotten a bunch of ratite chicks with massively fucked up leg bones, tried to keep them, then mysteriously stopped featuring them in videos (read: got them euthanized) when they failed to thrive.
-Tries to correct aggression in a male rhea by alternately whacking it with a bin lid, dressing up like Master Chief, whacking it with a riot shield, and throwing it around by its neck.
-Allows said male rhea to freely wander around other animals that it could easily kill with a bite or stomp
-Puts up flimsy fencing for enclosures that said male rhea can barge through and potentially become entangled in
-Eats raw ostritch eggs and catches salmonella for the lawlz
-Spends more and more and more money on gadgets and things he needs to make the rescue run

Oh, also his latest video is 10 minutes of manic, deranged feeding the trolls because apparently someone saw these vids and reported him to some sort of authority.

Sounds barely worse than a lot of these big, attention grabbing, clickbait mill constant hoarding new animals channels. We really need a community watch on these freaks.

Hopping on the Dunkey train for this one.

His jokes get way too repetitive after a while and whenever he tries to review a game he almost always gets something factually incorrect and people just let it slide because he's an internet funny man.

I honestly wouldn't hate him so much if his dipshit fanbase actually let people criticize him without being obnoxious cunts and yelling"WoW YoU tOoK tHe InTeRnEt FuNnY mAn SeRiOuSlY" as if it absolves him of any kind of criticism.

Even when I was subscribed to him, I couldn't believe that people let his "I'm done with League of Legends because they don't like me insulting people" video slide.

I Hate almost all commentary YouTubers now. Its like a never ending cycle of them moving on to the next stupid e celeb drama and theres so many now that its honestly unbearable. I previously watched maxmillianmus because i did unironically find his videos funny and i also joined his discords a few times but left after 3 or so minutes cause it would just be unbearable autistic spam but regardless never anything bordering on cp. Thats all to say because of that drama it made me realize how shitty so many commentary channels are now Pyrocynical, Critical, someordinarygamers (more recently), and all their wannabe fans who in turn make their own terrible channels. Most feel like there just so entitled and just hope that their brain-dead fans will trust what they say and it always feels like theirs some underlying bias and ulterior motives to the people they talk about but I don't know, maybe im just lacking in iq. Anyone feel the same ?
I totally agree and I've been feeling this real bad lately. I feel like almost every single one of these people talk straight out their asses and literally refuse to do any research before recording, even the most cursory Google search is too much for these retards, can't let facts get in the way of their epic hot takes I guess.

Doug Demuro, maybe hate is a bit strong. I dislike the way how he films every little compartment in a car and calls everything a "quirk and feature". None of those things are particularly "quirks", or are particularly interesting. He's kind of like if you took someone who didn't really care about cars and asked them to film car reviews. The videos are very long and untimestamped and by the end of it I don't feel like I really learned anything new. There was a guy named SAABKyle back in the day who did exactly the same thing with lower production value.

Commentary channels kind of wore out their schtick half a decade ago and have been coasting on fumes since then. I think YouTube drama in general has just soured on a lot of people (at the very least, it has for me) as they realize that there really is no moral high ground in YouTube drama and everyone is kind of a tard for caring about it in the first place.

I only watch the guy when he covers some obscure interesting car, because the guy for some reason tends to manage to get access to them. But I can't for the life of me understand how he of all people got to his position and not someone like the guy you mentioned from earlier youtube. Right place and the right time I'd guess.

  • Agree
Reactions: Yamamura
Demo Ranch. I used to like his content and he also had a secondary channel where he documented his work as a veterinarian. Then he blew up and his videos are gun go boom haha, and flexing on his collection. Gee, I wonder if a 50 cal can shoot through a 10 pound block of velvetta..... top tier content. Also abandoned his vet practice after stating in the past that Demo ranch was meant to finance his dream of saving animals. Extra scumbag points in that the vets he worked with had to start an entirely new channel to continue their work as he refused to give them a channel he hadn't posted on in over a year.

10 million subs though.....

He no longer makes Youtube videos, but Bart Baker. My last college roommate had a friend that would listen to his shitty parodies and laugh uproariously over them.

All of the parodies I heard were the same thing: Shitty singing, lowest common denominator humor, the exact same "I'm (artist) and I suck!" jokes, and Bart Baker acting like a complete spaz the entire time. Dude seemed like a massive wigger on top of that, despite being in his early 30s.

The story of him selling himself to China and even his manager finding him ugly and stupid is hilarious, though.

All reddit threads read by robot voice with big tit anime babe in the thumbnail videos. But more so I hate subreddit meme videos voices by real people who then add their unfunny and unwanted commentary/jokes after every single meme
The best part is when the joke is just the most obvious surface level commentary or the easiest joke you could have made about whatever situation is being portrayed.

Mr Beast.

I respect the man for his contributions to both YouTube and the world, but I just can't bring myself to like his usual content.
I honestly have no idea why people like him. His content is dogshit money flexing (I'm giving my friend a car but's it a "game"!) (I give some random schmuck a PS5 because I'm a good person!) he has zero personality, but he donates to charity and gives people money (on camera) so he's good?

Genuinely baffled.
