General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I personally have a deep loathing towards expats that don't even learn the language of their host country. It's the shit that pisses me off the most about Mori as well.
Though I admit it's fairly interesting comparing their views to Kiara's who has had very different approaches to living in Japan.
I mean Mori's taking Japanese classes and can speak Japanese to some extent can't she?

Also for anybody who's ordered Holo merch before, which one's a better option: GeekJack or Booth? I ordered her pin badge back when she hit 893k subs but it's yet to ship (probably because they don't ship to my country yet). Is Booth cheaper and faster than Geekjack?

Pretty sure it was Nyanners because she named Kiara as her favourite western vtuber to Kizuna Ai during the first(?) american concert collab.

Mori goes to those Japanese classes nowadays like twice a week and actually tries to learn it.

Yes but then you consider that she's been living in Japan for 5 years.
Well i am gonna give benefit of doubt and say she didn't have all that much money for those classes before Hololive and tried to learn by herself which is why at one point her Japanese skills were all over the place.

She's also basically a weird NEET. Her language proficiency isn't bad for someone who never talks to anyone. She actually uses some fairly advanced grammar in her Japanese language streams. She just has trouble with holding extended impromptu conversations (which is something even native-speakers of Japanese struggle with).

Probably not since during the watchalong she said she will try to make it work and started saying phrases in Japanese that involve nya a lot and also said she was gonna use a lot of cat talk

Gura is collabing with her catmom, can her mom even speak English
You underestimated East Asian too much. Their hardcore K12 education guarantee their ability to read and write perfect English since native English speaker will have hard time passing their English exam. The only down side is they can’t used English for communication purpose since there’s no day to day usage result in their communication English like that of Nabi or they prefer not to use it all together. Since Amashiro, Nabi, Nishizawa, etc. all Hololive digital artists must have finish art school or art college (post high school education) I’ll say their English should be pretty darn good and they only need to speak more to get it going.

Excuse my attempt to destroy your last remaining happiness for today, but I came in with an interesting question.

Say an accident happens and a company affiliated vtuber dies in it. What will happen next? How can this be handled properly?
I feel like this scenario isn't nearly as interesting as you're thinking and it would just be an announcement of their passing (probably some time after the fact/after the burial) condolences and moving on.

There's not really all that much special about that situation from any other entertainment figure in Japan passing. Only wrinkle would probably be rrats on here and the chans about how "they aren't really dead the company just axed them" or some such.

What the hell

Are you ready for other 20 pages shitting on Gigguk?
Gigguk isn't the worst, and is a fairly stomachable anituber, which is saying a lot. He just has a tendency to be really cringey when he's not working with a script.

As far as announcing it to the public, I imagine an official statement that is ran through the family of the chuuba. Essentially handle it like you would a celebrity death.

Knowing chuuba fans, I can easily see a super massive fundraiser akin to what happened with KyoAni after the fire. A semi-official source would organize it and handle the passing of the money to the company to distribute to the family.

The Japanese are really weird when it comes to charity like that, so it might be difficult to get them to actually accept the money. If they are a company tuber and the company won't take the money, or are an indie, I could see a massive amount of red superchat spam happening on the channel from whoever organized the fundraiser.

I got myself the Kiryu Kai pin badge through holobooth. (apparently they'll sell it, starting tomorrow, on geekjack)

It's the first time I buy merch from any content creator on the internet ever.

This pin tho, it just carries so much value. Now that Coco's era is over I want something to remind me of the good times. It's small and classy, so it's perfect as a keepsake.

Got it during the first wave during her 3d debut, that shit was sold out in seconds! lol. Glad they did re-runs though.

doxxfags like poka are going to have a field day.

assuming the identity of said vtuber wasn't already disclosed.

As much as people shit talk traditional education, the idea of learning a hard foreign language only by exposure (when you are older than 7) is a meme. Especially when you consider that for Japanese you need to learn the fucking Kanji to read. And that takes a shitload of time. There are lots of people who spent decades living in the US and can barely string one sentence or two in a heavy accent.

Most formal intensive courses I know in foreign langauge training are 3 years, with +10 hours a week of classwork. Japanese ones are known for longer hours and lots of extra homework due to the Kanji problem
