I delivered some possible criticism when explaining the theory (through the example of a starving artist who neglects basic physiological needs in favor of self-fulfillment). Of course you can't fully encapsulate something as complex as human psyche through a colorful triangle and it won't perfectly fit every single person and personality type.
Now you're going to far. First, it doesn't have to be love - simple acceptance will suffice. Second, for most people it's a need and having this need unfulfilled can negatively affect one's mental and physical health ->
citation.
Codependency is a relation between a dysfunctional person (addict, narcissist, someone suffering from a personality disorder) and an enabler who shields them from consequences of their actions and enables their destructive \ self-destructive behaviors.
It does not relate to a healthy relationship, be it romantic love, friendship or relationships between family members.
