General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

The overwhelming majority of Indies do not get 1.5-2K concurrent viewers. Only the top dogs, and those normally get their followings from being related in some way to Hololive.

It's less so that LazuLight are doing 'indie numbers' and moreso that everyone but Hololive are doing 'normal' numbers. ANYCOLOR are a business, they wouldn't throw more money at a branch if it wasn't sustainable or we would have seen it with NijiIN. I would hope we can put the conversation of 'Were LazuLight successful?' to bed with this.
If Nijisanji numbers are the norm and Holo's are the anomaly, then why do people claim that Niji is the #1 Vtuber company in Japan? Shouldn't it be Holo then?

If they are the #1 Vtuber company, why can't they fight Holo numbers head on?

The impression I get is that a lot of Japanese "English" teachers, especially in the public school system, aren't actually that good at English, especially pronunciation. So unless you were exposed to a lot of actual spoken English, like Suisei was with her mom listening to a lot of American music iirc, you're probably still mentally locked into the consonant/vowel pairs that make up most of the building blocks of Japanese but which English deviates from all the time.
some of them do not speak english at all. then its a roll of the dice if the native english teacher they get at school (if they get one) gives a shit enough to actually try to teach or are allowed to do more than repeat words like a cassette player lol

They claim #1 Vtuber company in Japan prolly cause the company have the most connection to others brand and such hence from random interview last year, mostly recognized Niji member than Holo

Holo numbers mostly come to Overseas, thats why seeing 100k subs sounds a bad number from our prespective, hence-- celebrating each 100k or even 1k might seems weird since its easy number to get. while having 50-100k already consider big in JP. tho you can see different approach on how Niji making concert Free stream on YT yet SC still on while Holo making it more like watching Idol Concert, you paid in front and no recording whatsoever.

and there probably more thing Niji got acknowledge in JP that hasn't cover yet due people not find it interesting to cover, or clipper just prefer easy money by translating coomerbait stuff~

because Niji literally has 400+ streamers. 99% of them have generic bland schoolkid designs but through sheer force of numbers, they can compete on some metrics

Yes. You should reread the time period I mentioned in my post and compare it with the date of your blogpost. The Japanese government put forward a policy in 2000 that aggressively promoted the use of fluoridated toothpastes (Health Japan 21), which is why they became more commonplace. Even still, something like 5% of Japanese schoolchildren do not use fluoridated toothpaste at all and a large percentage only use it occasionally (apparently owing to some widespread misconception that fluoride toothpaste can cause gingivitis).

The NCBI has a paper detailing some more recent findings and the progress of this initiative.

It's not a tit-for-tat thing.

• Nijisanji still has plenty of members who achieve similar stream numbers to the top of Hololive. Kuzuha in particular garners 20-30K a stream just for APEX. Even still, they are anomalous amongst their own ranks.

• Hololive numbers are drastically inflated by overwhelming foreign influence. Pekora said 50% of her viewers are overseas, Subaru has said her foreign subs have gone from 2% to 30% in the last year and that's probably increased even more.

• Hololive numbers are also drastically inflated due to lower viewer retention. It's not uncommon for someone like Ange to have 6K concurrent viewers but her VoD goes up at like 40-50K overall viewers. Kiara streams that have 5-6K concurrent viewers often go up at 80-100K viewers. In fact, I've pointed this out here in the past, when Bora had 8K concurrent viewers but her VoD went up at 24K, and Towa (who was on the same team) had 2.5K concurrent viewers had her VoD go up at 56K.

• Isolationist vs. Holistic mentality: Nijisanji often encourage you to simply pick the ones you like and stick with them, whereas Hololive does things to encourage you support all of them as the 'Hololive idol group'. This is why most Holos grow at a similar pace but they rarely seem to gain more viewers. Mel in particular has gained 200K+ subs but doesn't budge past 1.5K viewers. Niji members grow much slower, but the viewers are on a gradual incline.

• Brute force: Nijisanji has a metric fuckton of members. Even if some of the 'popular' names like Noraneko, Ryushen, Furen, Chigusa, Hayase, Sukoya don't break 2K concurrent viewers, they still add up, and they add up with less overlap and less foreign viewers.

• Sponsorships and Merch: It's no secret that Nijisanji's biggest strength is in their connections. Lulu hosted a stream showcasing the fucking PS5. Finana was able to stream RE8 in English from the jump whereas Gura said it would take her weeks to months to get permissions to do the same. They often collaborate with famous Seiyuu, pro players, mangaka.

I don't think the discussion is as cut and dry as 'Bigger stream numbers = bigger company' because one company is going toe-to-toe without a palpable reach in the western market. Hololive's numbers are anomalous BECAUSE they got that lucky break, but the actual importance they have on how the company is ran or its projections are nebulous at best.

What are Mildom's content restrictions compared to Youtube?
Less restrictive than SusanTube, but I've mentioned before that kson still got her account suspended for a few hours while she was playing Super Kinky, but then Genital Jousting wasn't an issue and that game was full of literal dicks, shit, butts, etc. I think the main reason that she likes Mildom is that she can set chat limitations to people that are above a certain "level". And you gain levels by watching any Mildom stream. In her case, it takes maybe 6 or so hours to get to an adequate level, but she's changed it a few times so I'm not a 100% sure. Which basically nullifies any bugmen spam.

Except she did say there something wrong with it. Its base on the poll she made in YT the data didn't came from YT analytics.

You are right. You can learn a language by watching anime, get a finance degree from /Biz/ and r/WSB, a law degree by watching Nick Rekieta and have a meaningful political impact in your country by twitter shitposting. God bless our modern age.
You laugh but people who just watch anime are more successful than people who "study" Japanese in the same way /biz/ is more successful than people who "study" finance

what is there to rrat, if there is any?
I say it as thread's been entertaining themselves with rrats. Uh, me and a friend think she's prob doing this to have something other than a static image for streams and music. I don't know Japanese so I wouldn't know any more.

Edit: There is a decent chance some of your fave TouHou fansongs were sung by her.

well she did say she was supposed to graduate this year (AZKi), but she extended her stay. Maybe she got inspired by Coco's graduation to invest on her personal account too besides uta-ing.
