People hated him only because he was DSP's mod and they considered it some sort of excuse to accuse him of anything, like "if this guy is close to DSP that he has to be rotten to the core". And his behavior here wasn't bad until you-know-what - he just tried to explain himself, while Bryan was throwing accusations.
Now imagine yourself in his shoes. You have a "debate" with some guy about a guy who's chat you moderate, don't believe that some of his peers from GG days wants to destroy him, he spazzes out and promises all sorts of retribution to you. Then he begins taking your words out of context to make you look like a psycho who wants to destroy him. You begin looking further into him and he turns out to be one big liar. You begin trolling him with fucking pictures of your hands covered in ketchup and pictures of trolls and he freaks out so hard, that he promises to beat the shit out of you. After some time you find out that there is rather small internet forum where people laugh at retards and that guy is trying to use it against you. You come to explain yourself, but everyone disregards anything you say, since you are "a moderator of that pigroach", so you are guilty by default. That guy promises a thread on you, you say "whatever, laugh at me all you want", but instead he makes incredibly bad and unbelievably misleading thread where he tries to smear you as a pedo, even though none of his "arguments" would hold any water even at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. However, mods approve this shit and the same guy publicly tells you to go check it, so everyone else who follow you online could go and do the same. You come and try to explain yourself, but your every word falls on the deaf ears and people just dogpile on you and call you a psycho, while sucking off that guy. Would you be nice to the people who do this? I doubt that, you'd think that they are just a bunch of trolls who want to fuck with you no matter what and all your following actions would reflect that.
After ban Vidar came back and said exactly the same things again and lo and behold - turns out all of those were true and everyone just needed not to be retarded for a minute. People were ready to side with someone like KoP and call Vidar a pedo, just because he was giving money to some shitty streamer - this was incredibly embarrassing.
