I remember when the Lockpicking Lawyer had a video where he was sent a locked package by a fan, and upon opening it, turns out this fan had sent him a pair of (hopefully unused) panties. The content creator always encourages or even just tolerates toxic behavior. While the non-crazy fans keep blaming the toxic parts of the audience while feeling bad for the creator.

The reality is that content creators need to push the crazy's shit in every now or again when they go too far. "Fans" need to realize that its exactly because the content creator doesn't moderate the fanatics that this shit is allowed to happen. Crazy is going to continue being crazy (and likely get worse) if nothing is done about it. Its the creators job to rein in the crazy (be it through banning or admonishing it) for both the protection of themselves and the cohesion of their own audience.

Aside from the qualities already mentioned in the quote, Schlatt overall has a very self-aware yet tongue-in-cheek humor going on with how he potrays his persona in his videos. He acts like an unabashed capitalist, a very firm catholic, and a lowkey closeted homosexual man in the videos you see of him on his or on his other friends' channels. These twitter kids just don't have the real life experience to actually see that he's doing an overall gag because the bubble they live in takes everything way too fucking seriously.

And I mentioned in before in the MCYT stans thread, but Schlatt is very compassionate and amicable with Tommy and his friend Tubbo, often appearing in his videos every now and then and you can really tell that he tries his best to show Tommy the ropes of internet success and how to keep things in a good balance--sort of a big brother or cool uncle sort of vibes

Finally, as I mentioned in the MCYT thread as well, compared to our deal Clayton, the likes of Tommy and Schlatt (and I guess Techno too) are self-aware, emotionally intelligent, and well adjusted individuals who know the extent of the acts that they put on, but they're all relatively smart in how they handle their e-celebrity success. They have lives and personalities outside of the DreamSMP circle and they're not soft uwu boys that these teenage girls can fawn over and that makes them seethe so much

You bring up a very good point actually!

Dream should be stumbling over himself trying to defend Tommy. The main thing about the SMP is that Tommy was considered the "main character" in the roleplay writing for the longest time, and still is by the fans. Everybody associates the Dream SMP with Tommy since he's one of the few people on there with the charisma required for roleplay. Without Tommy, the SMP has no "main character" and because of that, nobody will watch half the streamers anymore because the interesting guy is gone, and Dream himself doesn't stream the SMP.

Tommy is legitimately the "main character" in both senses, not only in the SMP, but he's the main person keeping the SMP afloat, and if he's gone, the SMP dies or is at least severely hampered. I'd bet Clayton's torn between defending Tommy for that, and giving him to the wolves for his ego.
