General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

... people do realize the song is supposed to be "in character." That's why it starts and ends in greek phrases. Atlantis is part of classical/greek mythology. As to why the rest is Japanese... it's only a song, so you should really just relax.

Everyone that thinks everything she does is a nod to Senzawa need mental help, though.

I don't like it tbh.

Too much autotune, and sounds like generic edgy anime jpop. Her voice is beautiful, yet they turned it into something soulless.

I was expected something more acoustic, an English song at least. I don't believe this is the kind of music she wants to make.
Please point out when can you hear autotune. I've heard none of it.
What I did hear was usage of effects to denote a split personality during English parts. Perfectly justifiable.

Yeah, it does make sense given her character. And obviously not everything, but it’s not too out there to think it might be a nod with this song. Ofc that’s just an idea and pure speculation, and I bet most here understand that.

The lyric is as subtle as a baseball bat to the face, and if you try to say it's not a reference to her old day, you might need some special care. I mean, Mori does it. Why Gura won't do it? Glad she can put it out really. And I hope the "fan" can now stop asking her to let the gremlin out. She already moving on from the depressed drunk self-destructive shitposter and are in an happier place now.

Yep. When even the top comments of the song are saying it, that's how you know it's super fuckin obvious lol

Man this song written by some Nip in a fluorescent hell of an office really captures the soul of [VTUBER], the subtle intricacies of the lyrics weaving together their story as a content creator is truly inspiring. Its really like a reflection of the heroes journey.

The song was okay, it didn't seem in her style from the clips I've seen of her singing stuff though.

The reactions have been far more entertaining than the song itself, the amount of schizos coming out of the woodworks with their own theories is just amazing.
Just look at speds in the comment section typing paragraphs upon paragraphs trying to make sense of the lyrics.

It's a song, there is no deeper meaning to it calm down lol

Isn't song a good medium for deep meaning? Mind you that I find spergs making paragraph and paragraph of theory from it is funny, but saying song cant have meaning in it is kinda stupid.

No, Tako, don't you see, it's HER, everything is a reference to HER!

omg so deep im slashing my wrists UUUUHGH :story:

Gotta say i was not expecting the song to be this mellow-sounding. I thought with her voice she'd be more leaning towards the cutesy upbeat song like fubuki's say fanfare which, imo, suits her character best.

Don't get me wrong though, it's still a good song and i quite like it after repeated listening, just wasn't what i expected from the shark.

A song always have author intention to it, more so in this case. The emotion is overblown to unrealistic proportion (as Mori said "For artistic purpose") but it have truth in it. Take it with face value, and I think we can get as much of her thought on the subject as much as we'll ever get.
The youtube comment is quite fun tho. So many poet there.

I'm willing to bet that Gura wrote most of it.

Edit: She at least came up with the concept of the song. Neko Hacker wrote the lyrics for the Japanese parts based on her ideas.

A ton of songs tell stories and/or have 'deeper meanings'/purpose. I'm not saying that this song is 'deep' enough to warrant multiple in-depth essay-length paragraphs exploring its' meanings, nor am I defending the schizos who think that everything she does is a reference to HER, but I do think that within the context of the song being about one's reflection, it's not really a stretch to relate that to her past. Lines like 'One story ends, begin again' exemplify this.

But yea, I agree with you overall - it really isn't that 'deep.' The song has a pretty straight forward meaning/message. It's fun to watch people overanalyze it.

Damn, I couldn't have been more wrong. Songs are definitely story telling connected to reality, but its the schizo analyzing of these things that go way to overboard.

I'd just like to add that the concept is from Gura, and neko hacker is just the translator for the most part. So yeah, its mostly Gura on the lyrics and concept (?) of it. Its quite funny how this is her original song title, when I the first time I heard her cry on a karaoke stream is from singing Reflection.
Alright enough of the song. This is something much more interesting
