I honestly think it was poking fun at it to begin with -- this is the exact sort of edgy, anti-feminist, Amazing Atheist-style 'social experiment' that was popular with New Atheists in the 2010's -- until he saw how easy it was to grift people and how much clout it afforded him for so little effort.

He went from "Literally Who?" Atheist Neckbeard #39286 that hardly anyone paid attention to (and certainly didn't give inordinate amounts of cash to) to having a large personal army he can call on at a moments notice to go after anyone who wrongs him, a greatly expanded platform and a source of easy funding and all he had to do was say "I'm a woman" and sometimes wear a dress he dropped 10 bucks on at Goodwill.

(Heck, wasn't he accused of being a sex pest at his old atheist foundation job by women he worked with? I'm pretty sure he was, and notice how that, despite it being firmly in the #MeToo era, it was quietly memory holed after he trooned out).

Does he actually earnestly believe his own bullshit though? I mean, does he FEEL like a woman for real-real? I dunno, and don't know if he even thinks about it that deeply. I think to him, "Danielle", the STUNNING AND BRAVE, clouty, important, fawned over trans activist who can get several hundred bucks anytime 'she' wants it by posting a GFM on Twitter "feels" a lot better than Dave, the schlubby euphoric neckbeard that no one paid attention to. I think he's (clearly) extremely egotistical to the point that he thinks he should be famous and that being a woman lets him 'live his truth' of preordained e-fame.

Now I'm not sure whether this was a 'plain' homeless shelter or a specific women's shelter as Lineham suggests, but in the former case, filming inside would be unthoughtful, and in the latter case, absolutely verboten.

In Dave’s case, I think what would get him to actually start making an effort would be if he started getting some serious backlash over being a fake troon. Well, in the first place, the doctor he initially saw told him he needed therapy. So, of course, he ignored that guy's advice until he could get assigned to a doctor who would indulge his fantasies.

In the second place, both of his parents are medical doctors. They booted him as soon as he trooned.

I love when troons get in a huff when people call them men. They have to pull out all the paperwork to prove it. "Well, I'm a woman because I have my revised birth certificate and my driver's license and my doctor's note and my pysch doctor's note and someone called me ma'am today and a man on the street CATCALLED ME! Normal woman can stop at, "I'm a woman." Or just walk away from someone questioning them about that because lol who cares
