He knew what was going to happen, there was no surprise, he walked right into it knowingly after dodging for a week. Him getting mad was some kind of performative act for him to pearl clutch to his audience how distraught he was at being "tricked".

Think back to when Crowder crashed Chunk Yogurt's SXSW panel and went on stage. That was never agreed upon, but Chunk didn't "justifiably" flip his shit like Crowder did with Ethan, and he came out looking way better than Crowder did in that situation. Crowder looked like a dumbass whose jokes fell flat on the audience and got kicked off by security stage while Cenk chuckled his ass off at his failed attempt at comedy.

Hell, SXSW isn't even Steven's first rodeo with crashing events he was never invited to.

That's the funniest part to me. Because I've only ever heard of him in the context of being a two-faced sly faggot trying to leech off of someone else's success (generally more popular youtubers/podcasters, like that whole debacle with Tim Pool previously). Crowder did the right thing, you should never give attention-seeking assholes the limelight they so crave.
At that point there could be no expectation of any sort of a debate, any productive debate is an exchange in good faith, otherwise it would just be mudslinging.
