Kinsey has one sad story:
She was born with what htey thought was Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome which destroyed her kidneys they later found out she has some orphan genetic disorder that no one else has.
She also has severe cardiomyopathy which limits the amount of blood her heart can pump out.
Plus, she has autism, ADHD and some learning difficulties.
"In 2004, Kinsey spent 12 weeks in the hospital. Her kidneys failed, her liver failed and her body temperature could not regulate. At this point, she was on dialysis, was undergoing continuous blood transfusions and was wrapped in a warming blanket to keep her temperature up.
“Fourth of July weekend we were told to brace for the worst, as there was nothing else the doctors could do — the most horrific news a parent could hear, but our first miracle was about to happen,” Holly wrote on their GoFundMe page, “Kinsey’s Quest for a Kidney Transplant.”
“As people of faith, we reached out to our community to pray for our daughter. We continuously prayed, and 24 hours later, Kinsey began to improve and she recovered, but her kidney function remained impaired,” Holly said."
By age 5, Kinsey had undergone 17 procedures and surgeries and was on nightly dialysis until she had a kidney transplant at age 12.
Her kidney transplant failed two years later.
She was mainstreamed and in school where her mother was the nurse until her respiratory issues became so bad that she had to be placed on hospital homebound learning at home and hasn’t returned to school since then.
She is now deemed too medically complicated to be operated on and cannot be placed on the transplant list.
