Why is Vic wanting the tweet taken down so alien to them?
The courts can only give money. They can't force Funimation to take down the tweet, or make Ron apologize, or whatever. That's compelled speech, which flies in the face of the first amendment. So all Vic can possibly ask for is money.
What can happen, is Funi is looking at a possible 1 million bill, and decide, you know, maybe just taking down the tweet would be the smarter financial move.

Whoa. That was just basic human contact. If he's not fondeling me or trying to rape me, I don't see what the problem is. If you're so severely autistic that the thought of someone making friendly, platonic contact with you is an abhorrant act that should be punished with a campaign to ruin their life, that speaks a lot more to the fact that there's something wrong with you. Not the other way around.

And also, you fucking pillock, Funimation does not own the convention industry. Doing business with conventions and owning them are two separate things. The only thing Funimation does with conventions is provide them sponsorship money in return to promoting their "talent" and products. They may have a right to not do business with anybody, which is true. But they do not have a right to force conventions to compromise their own business by illegal means and affect anybody else's right to earn a living. I have never worked or even been at an anime convention before, yet how is it that I know this but you don't?
And lastly, the reason voice actors aren't publicly supporting Vic is because many of them don't want to have their careers obstructed. Everybody, including voice actors, are trying to earn a living and who do you think pays them? The companies they worked for. Who do you think several voice actors in Texas work for? Funimation, the company Vic is in a lawsuit against. If they say anything critical about them in public, you know what companies do? Either demote them, suspend them, fire them, spread misinformation to other companies...or all of the above!
Now let's just say a teacher or a student speaks out against the board of education for their callous mistreatment of his colleagues. You know what that looks like from the board's perspective? The enemy. And the board has to power to get rid of that guy immediately and anybody else that supports says person and even spread fatal feedback to anyone he is applying for. There are videos in which parents and teachers are critiquing the school boards in meetings and in all these videos, you see the boards cutting the mike, loudly saying that their time is up, having the speakers thrown out and even adjourning meetings because of dumb shit like not wearing a mask.
So why in the hell would a voice actor, who barely makes any money and who works for a company embroiled in a lawsuit, risk it all to speak out for someone who is suing them? That's not refusing to support somebody; that's keeping your head down and trying not to ruffle feathers.
Also Daniel, if you think Vic doesn't have friends in the VA world, you are gravely mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised if Vic has more friends in VA community than Monica and Jamie do.

They're idiots. They don't even seem to grasp that Vic was suing for money but willing to settle for that. Nobody had any particular reason to settle at that point, though, which is why it was a lazy exercise in futility by Chupp that wasted the money and time of all parties. Forced mediation is bullshit anyway. If parties are going to settle, they're going to settle. Shuttle diplomacy by some guy who doesn't give a fuck and knows nothing about the case isn't going to fix anything with intractable parties.
