Jesus christ... Hetalia and Homestuck were probably what started my decent into internet retardation.
The memories that just came flooding back.. to think it was all really that long ago, huh. Shit feels like just yesterday when I was on my ipod touch discussing fuckin hetalia lore with people twice my age.
But yeah I think what sets Clayton apart from the rest is the fact that he isnt a corporation, a genre, a group, a show, a webcomic, a game, or anything produced by a team, or that can be interacted with.
He is simply a single person, and the content his fans get depends solely on him and his actions as a single person.
Games like undertale, fnaf, fortnite, and minecraft can be played and controlled by the player. Webcomics like hetalia and homestuck have user feedback that affects the comic (at the time of their ongoing development) and have produced playable games or interactive assets to go along with it. That last part applies to MLP/Brony stuff too. Rick and Morty, attack on titan, and kpop are professionally made entertainment meant to be interacted with like this. Clayton is none of these. I'm terrible at wording it but it's like fandoms have went from "actual media---> fanmade media" to "fanmade media---> fanmade fanmade media" like the source they're obsessing over is the fictional relationship of two or more youtubers who play the popular game minecraft who do loose storytelling roleplaying in the preexisting game.

The cult is really beginning now, boys. This is where you're gonna see an uptick in him "privately" encouraging certain behaviors from his fans. Nothing vulgar, but things like saying it's okay for his socially autistic fans to get tattoos of him or other absurd things like that that will build up to the vulgarity. If you want to bet on dates for when he goes off the deep end, this is going to be the time to start doing so.

Adding on to earlier discussion surrounding the longevity of the DreamSMP, I fully believe it'll be dead in the water by the end of this year, maybe even this summer if nothing changes. When SMPLive was sputtering out at the end of 2019, other groups and SMPs (such as SMPEarth) were formed as members began to lose interest. The creation of the OriginSMP, the British members of the group all cementing their ties, Ranboo/Tubbo hanging out, and the newer HardcoreSMP (the new Tommy one) all tell me that the DSMP is going to kick the bucket soon like SMPLive did. Another factor in the original wave of the MCYT stanbase dying out to be replaced by the current one was a critical mass of stans turning against each other and their creators, before seemingly all at once deciding to disband the community. It started with the artists in the community distancing themselves. This is something I see happening currently as well as increasing infighting over creator's boundaries (and subsequent creator burnout from as this like with Ranboo) and tensions rising from certain stans of 'blacklisted' creators being ostracized. Time is a flat fucking circle.
Also, notice how none of the groups splintering off include Dream.

I actually didn't consider this, but you're right. I wonder if that's why he's kickstarting the literal cult of personality behavior now. He's trying to guarantee his grift can be maintained even after losing one of his biggest ongoing "projects" that guarantees him social media attention. It won't be that blatant, Dream is a moron but he's not that out of his mind yet. But I fully anticipate him encouraging body positivity hashtags and such, like that K-Pop hashtag a few months back where women were posting their bare tits on twitter in "honor" of some idol posting a manifesto about being bullied or some shit and it turned out to be a terrible idea because a bunch of minors were doing it too and the lady who came up with the hashtag begged people to stop posting it.

Currently there are 2 arcs- the prison one, which is running on fumes because of Tommy, Ranboo, and Tubbo's previously mentioned burnout, and Las Nevadas, which is the only interesting one the server has had since Schlatt disappeared- it uses prerecorded footage and multiple takes, which helps a lot with making it feel more like a story and less like very serious improv sketches. Plus Quackity gives enough of a shit about it to get less famous members and give them actual roles in the plot. If they were smart Las Nevadas's ending would coincide with the server closing, but we all know Clay is going to stretch it until the sun burns out (despite never playing or streaming or interacting with it at all)
