To be fair, I've never followed iDubbbz as a Lolcow.

Does he have some sort of history with parental abuse that I missed? Because that's typically the only reason I've seen where the male changes his last name; he doesn't want to be associated with his bloodline anymore due to a history of abuse.

That would also explain the quicky Vegas wedding without any friends/relatives from his perspective at least.

But I also don't want to pull a Boogie and start accusing his parents of shit out of thin air.

Seems the edgelord outer shell in all those videos was hiding another far more worrying layer behind it...

Could be that Ian has family issues that he's been rightfully tight lipped about all along. I mean, it takes a certain kind of unironic mentally ill person to climb into a storm drain and eat all those weird stuff. Maybe Ian and Anisa really ARE perfect for each other?

As far as I know, his relationship with his family is fine. They owned a comic book shop in California and he was often seen working with them at conventions before he got Youtube famous. I would search for the exact quotes brought up in this thread, but the search functions are still a little wonky for me.

@anisa_jomha_reciepts , Do you know more about the Washburn family dynamics going on here? Aside from one or two redpilled and based comments from his father, everything seemed amicable to me.

I honestly don't think it's a family issue with him taking her last name. I think it's more so he puts her on a high pedestal and will bend the knee to her with these things and rarely puts a foot down or discuss compromises. Also anisa is probably down that rabbit hole of woman empowerment and sees taking a mens last name as restrictive or controlling.
