Same. The pads on my Razer Tiamat v1 completely fell apart after 7 years of use. Thought about upgrading to a new 7.1 headset but couldn't really justify it when the one I have works fine, just needed £10 for new pads. It's been surprisingly sturdy for a Razer product.

Seven years of use? Mine went out in six months.
I wonder if there’s some crucial headphone care instructions I’m missing, or if it’s just the modern trend of “cheap materials to lower cost and make customers buy more”.

Dunno, every other headset I've ever had has broken within a year, usually due to the wires wearing out either where they join the headset or near the plug, or on one occasion where the headband itself snapped it half. This one though has kept on trucking until the pu leather on the pads started flaking off about a year ago then recently became so brittle one of the pads tore off. No special care taken.

Today I bought a set of tarot cards because I'm interested in that sort of thing - it's one of the golden tarot set from Lo Scarabeo with medieval paintings for art. Apparently it was the right set for me because the picture used for the two of wands is a picture of a guy who chopped his own balls off. One of the meanings of the two of wands happens to be annoyance - which I think is an extremely fitting term to describe troons.
