I'm not defending Phil, and I think it's great whenever he gets that kind of response. However, reading this chain, I finally understood why some people see Phil as a victim.

He really can't catch a break. Every interaction of his with anyone, even apparently inoffensive ones like this, are met with aggressiveness.

To an ignorant bystander, Phil really does look like a victim. "Wow, the guy is just being nice to Max and this troll comes here and offends him". If you're not a pig connoisseur like most of us and you were to read that interaction, I'd say it's likely that you'd believe that.

Sure, we know that Phil is just chasing clout while being envious of a guy much more liked than him. But to someone who doesn't know that, he really seems like a victim. Add to that the fact that Phil reinforces the victim narrative daily saying that he's harassed by trolls all the time, and probably more than one of his supporters were people that saw that kind of interaction and believed that Phil was a victim.

Just an observation. I still find it hilarious when he gets shit on while pretending to be a nice guy.

That’s a very good point, and can be applied to a lot of people on the internet when others see these instances taken out of context. Of course, it’s ingratiating when they succeed at pulling pity points (Zoe Quinn, Sarkeesian, et al), but Phil is one of the few who manage to squander this “pity” with their shitty attitude and asinine behaviour.

Phil just fears PC gaming because he is too stupid to figure it out. He has never recovered from embarrassing himself in his PC lemon videos. He could have easily admitted his low knowledge and asked for help, but we all know he prefers the method of running with tail between legs.
Are you telling me that you don’t miss the good ole’ days when Phil just stuck a camera in front of his decrepit CRT TV? The pinnacle game capturing technique.

DSP does nothing if there is no chance to benefit from it. DSP does not do small talk, he chase clout.

Also, and this is my personal opinion... he does not deserve to have a nice talk with anyone.

What's funny is that Max defends modern fighting games and being able to spam cool combos because it's just fun to do and argues that without that, there would be no player base. This is the opposite of how Phil feels and thinks that it ruins modern fighters so I don't even get the clout chase.

It’s like Phil’s hot takes on Geoff and Phil Spencer: He’s trying to ride those coattails, but ends up falling flat on his face because they rarely (if ever) acknowledge him. That Xbox tweet is a perfect example. Phil bent over backwards to say it was all a joke, but if anyone else tried it, it would be a LiMB.

So you side with a guy that is known to treat people like shit? Okay.

Anyways. This is sad. I missed both streams yesterday but I saw the first one he didn't hit the goal and the second stream Jaxx_Raxxor (man who wants to buy a car but Phil won't let him) bankrolled damn near the whole goal. This is peak levels of begging... and I have no idea why he's begging so hard after making 5 figures in one month alone. It wouldn't be so bad if he actually did something cool with the money he's scamming out of these idiots, but he's literally blowing money by just sitting on his ass all day.

Maybe Phil is fooling everyone and feigning broke while he's staking all this money to retire on... but after looking at the bankruptcy files and him still following the same habits that got him bankrupt in the first place.. I highly, HIGHLY doubt it.

You know, if you were a poor streamer trying to scrape together a living, you can usually go one in three directions with your game expenses:
1) Buy something like a PS Pro subscription and play games that way. I think all the Dark Souls games are available this way for example.
2) Wait until Summer Sales like now and buy games at a good discount.
3) Take the few games that you do buy and replay them in new and exciting ways.

It's telling that DSP takes none of these options.

This must be that dude on the DSP subreddit that had an insane sperg out yesterday.

If you guys remember this character from the movie 300 that's basically what happened with that guy (i.e. omg the detectors don't love me I'm going over to the other side!)

He suggested reporting DSP to the IRS for tax fraud or something retarded like that.

He should be paying top dollar for all of it to try and get to that mythical 5k biz expenses.

Did you quote the wrong person or is there something I've missed? My brain is in full holiday mode right now.

You can always tell the detractors who really hate their own lives and just trying to find a place to laugh at people they think are just as or more miserable than them.
