It's from a smaller leftwing channel called the Dive w/Jackson Hinkle. He's close with Jimmy Dore and thus has economically leftist views, though he is closer to a centrist on cultural issues. Beacause of his relationship w/Dore, Hinkle has inserted himself in the current meltdown involving the Young Turks on one side, against Jimmy Dore and journalists from the independent leftist outlet the Grayzone, mainly journalists Aaron Maté and Max Blumenthal. Maté is especially disliked amongst the resistance left as he debunked claims that the Kremlin had an undue amount of influence over Trump's White House administration, and was overly involved in manipulating the 2016 Clinton-Trump election (known widely as the Russiagate conspiracy).
Recently Maté has been on the ground jn Syria, researching the ongoing struggle between pro-Asad forces and the myriad of rebel groups vying for power, including those affliated with Islamist organizations like isis and al queda. Maté is especially critical of an ongoing American presence and involvement in the region, as the Usa controls significant swaths of Syria's wheat feilds and oil extraction sites. American involvement has been apparent since the Obama administration, which sought to exploit the tensions which flared amomgst anti-govt Syrian dissidents emanating from the Arab Spring a decade ago. Not only is Asad close with Putin, It is alleged that Asad was unwilling to approve a natural gas pipeline which would bring oil from the Us-backed Persian gulf states to Europe, thus undercutting a Russian proposed pipeline from its nation through the former Eastern bloc into the EU. It is thus alleged by members of the American dissident left and right, that the military industrial complex, with its powerful state backers, are pushing for a regime change war in Syria. This would also explain why the Americans were intially unresponsive to the rise of the Islamic state in the mid 2010s, allowing it to capture large swaths of Syrian territory as a means to pressure Assad into surrender. When Trump took office, his prime objective in Syria was to eradicate Isis, regardless of the benefits Asad would reap from this. The major point of contention of the leftist infighting is a suspected chemical weapons attack on civillians in the Syrian city of Duma in 2018. At the time it was reported that the Asad government perpetrated the attack, which lead to the Trump admin ordering air strikes against strategic Assdist targets, which was supported by the Israelis, Saudis and Turks, while being opposed by the Russians.
Matte recently traveled to Syria to investigate the findings of a joint UN-OPCW (Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons), which exonerated the Syrian regime for the attack, and instead bring up the possibility of it being a false flag attack perpetrated by a Syrian rebel faction hoping to draw the USA into conflict against their enemy Assad. This would make sense, given the fact that at the time, the Russians and the Assadists had retaken a lot of land lost to the rebels, particularly following Western intervention against Isis or Daesh. Mattès latest investigation sought to uncover more details related to the Syrian conflict, and the overall impact of American involvement in the region, he has recently returned from a trip to Syria, and has thus been making the leftist press rounds, particularly on Dore's streams.
Enter the Young Turks, who have long been on the side of American intervention agaisnt Assad, and by extention, Putin; as well as major proponents of Russiagate. When the topic of Mattè's reporting was brought up, Ana Ksspairan had an unhinged expletive-laced meltdown, alledging that Maté and his journalistic outfit were being funded by the Russians. This was followed by a very classy raised middle finger and with Ana screeching "fuck Aaron Mattè, fuck you" to the camera.
This led to a back and forth with Matté and Dore, culminating in Kasparian doubling down on her hatred with threats sent to Dore regarding joke comments made about her inappropriate lengthed skirt during his time at TYT. In response to the hostile DM, Dore addressed the allegations on his show, along with Matte, providing context, and denouncing Kasparian's attempts to weaponize a #MeToo allegation against her critics.
Other lefty commentators came out in support of Kasparian and condemnation of Dore, especially as he has lately gone after members of the Squad for their feckless tactics. They included the Rational National, Humanist Report, and Sam Seeder. David Packman barely acknowledged it, while Kyle Kulinsky largely ignored it, until a couple days ago in which he uploaded a 25 min video explaining where he stood on Aaron Mate, Dore, and the Young Turks. To his credit Kulinsky did praise Matte for his investigative journalism, and critiqued TYT for their misrepresentation of his work. Kulinsky however fully backed Kasparian and TYT on their attacks on Dore's character. He implied Dore was policing Kasparians dress and implied that he humiliated her in front of her students. Kulinsky used clips from Jimmy Dore's response vids to TYT, but he conveniently cut out the segments in which Dore proves that Kasparian was attempting to blackmail him into silence. This was a wildly disengenous move on Kulinsky's part, as it skews perceptions of incident to uninformed parties.
Dore responded recently in a 1 hour breakdown video, in which he exposes Kulinsky's attempts at narrative-spinning. It turns out that Jimmy Dore had plans with Kulinsky, and Rising's Krystal Ball to appear on their recently launched podcast in late June. When Jimmy reached out to them at the time they had previously agreed to, he was ghosted. Later on he recieved blunt messages from both hosts saying that they wanted to stay away from him and Uyger/Kasparian at the time, due to unfolding drama online. This prompted Dore to express his disappointment, and reiterate that his critique of the Squad came from the left, and that he was meerly trying to defend himself from a weaponized #MeToo claim from a person who had continued to work over him at her position at TYT for years following the alleged incident in 2014, even going so far as to have invited him to her wedding. Dore expresses this hurt and disappointment since Kulinskys address made no mention of this correspondence giving Jimmy's side of the story. To add insult to injury, Ball and Kulinsky did have Hasan Piker, the TYT nephew, and asked him for his perspective on the drama, because of course they want to ride the drama wave for clout without admitting it!
