Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

That definitely makes a lot of sense for China and Russia, and that really puts China's actions into perspective. Now why would the US do it? Is it to deny either of those two countries that option?

I'm pretty certain these are trolls. Especially "The French bet against us in 1776". The US won the American Revolution in part because the French Army aided the Americans from the North and the French Navy cut off General Cornwallis to the East. Hell, the final document confirming US Victory is called THE TREATY OF PARIS.

TL;DR - France (and Spain to an extent) were pissed off that Britain won the "Seven Years War" and wanted both revenge and to weaken the dominant global power at the time.
