To the discussion above: I think the people who don't mind or actively defend trans people are the ones who are around them the least. It's easy to defend them when they haven't infiltrated and dominated your community or crept into your favorite past-time. It's easy to cheer on something from the sidelines when you yourself haven't dealt with cultural colonization or civil domination over what you love.
It's all fun, games, and 'acceptance and diversity' until it's your hobby. It's fun to defend what you view as an oppressed minority until they're the one pushing oppression on you. Trannies aren't interested in ending any kind of oppression, they're just interested on flipping it around.
A lot of these people don't remember what the internet was like before all this kicked off. And the parts of the internet that go 'uncolonized', they're too afraid of. There's no real frame of reference.
