Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

How does Sony and Microsoft handle emulation?
Sony's failed lawsuit against the bleem! emulator was probably the most famous emulation-related lawsuit, and Sony won in the end since their lawyers did so much bullshit that the legal fees put bleem! out of business. It is also illegal to own a working emulator of any Playstation console since for those (at least PSX/PS2 emulators) you need the BIOS which is just as copyrighted as a rip of a Playstation game and also illegal to dump), although the same goes with any emulator that requires a BIOS to work.

The funny thing is that Nintendo used to not care as long as wasn't for recent systems. The attacking of rom sites for SNES/NES stuff only started to happen in the last 5 or so years, but even after the advent of NES games for sale in the Wii Shop there wasn't ever any complaints about the old 90s style rom sites. No idea when this changed.

Maybe because of the NES/SNES Minis

Watch as a wild soyboy roams walmart in search for a toy. He squeels in excitement and runs down the aisle greedily grabbing all they had in stock in his arms. Out of breath he excitedly exclaims victory like a triumphant Neanderthal who just killed his dinner.

Edit: the good stuff starts around the 7:00 mark
Even though he's wearing a mask, I know his mouth is open.

I don't know about that because Nintendo has had so many bombs it seems like every other thing they put out ends up being a flop. Virtual boy, the N64 falling below expectations compared to the PlayStation, the GameCube similar, the Wii u.. it's just a matter of time for Nintendo to do it again it seems to be something they always have a knack for doing.

But absolutely the consoomerism with the switch is probably the worst it's ever been with Nintendo.
I never have and never will subscribe to prime, but it seems like I always get my qualifying orders over $25 really fast. Maybe it's because I live in a major metro area where there's always Amazon vans constantly running.

It took me a while to even realize what the fuck he was buying, and then I realized that it was a re-release of merch for a now ancient movie I'd completely forgotten about. At least I got a "new" reaction gif from all of this.

Maybe so, but out here in the hinterlands, 2+ week waits for what should be simple media mail orders are completely common. There is no way it isn't deliberate. Whenever I do not have a Prime sub (going to let it go for a couple months), I try to avoid Amazon and look for the same item on ebay, where I usually can get free shipping.

Imagine getting excited over an action figure from a shitty 1990s childrens film starring Sinbad and Arnold Schwarzenegger. I don't usually get tripped up by the endless "soyboy", "consoomer", or "fall of western civilization" type memes that people post, but goddamn.

Whenever Consoomers are brought up I think about Evangelion. End of Evangelion specifically. The message of the movie, and by proxy the entire series, is that you can't replace reality with escapism and basically telling otaku culture to fuck off and go live your life. The message went completely over everyone's heads and now we have people buying Eva shaving products and wedding rings and diving ever deeper into Consoomer culture and escapism.

It's been forever since I've seen the movie but it also seems like the whole message behind the movie too was that a father-son relationship was more important than some material gift for Christmas, and his son ends up giving the action figure away. Kinda ironic when you think about it.

And even so far as trains themed off of the show's mechs. There's a whole video about just how ridiculously many pieces of merch there are for the show especially in Japan.
