I have a feeling that Near will be back. Lots of people ragequit social media and swear they're leaving for good. How often do they keep their word?

The best theory I've seen about why he pulled this is that he's been headhunted by some big company to make big bucks doing reverse engineering and he wants to scrub his old Internet presence. There's something in his thread that implicates him in a crime of some kind, something related to theft or IP infringement, and he wants to flush it along with the rest of his history.

Thing is, this guy is a dramawhore. If he wasn't he wouldn't have gotten into it with people in the emu community so many times. Giving up the Internet is going to be like quitting smoking cold turkey. Especially now that so many people are talking about him, he'll be desperate to join the conversation again. He'll use sockpuppets of some kind but he'll be around again in some form.
