Tactile input devices will always be superior to touch screens because you don't have to look at them to use them. Similar to game controllers vs. touch screen controls, you can use muscle memory to know what to press in advance and feel it. On a touch screen, you have to constantly check for typos because you can't feel when you press the wrong key. I know touch devices are the inevitable future of technology, but the removal of buttons is one of my most hated "features" of modern devices.

Well, yes, but there are other touchscreen advantages that I experienced myself. My posts in the VJlink thread that are in Russian were mostly written on my phone, simply because it's easier for me to type in Russian because I can see the actual Cyrillic letters on the screen, and quickly switch to other latin alphabet using languages. For Italian, English and Croatian, it's easier for me simply because the layout is largely similar, with only a few different letters. But for Russian I'd need another keyboard. And typing in Russian with the on screen keyboard using a mouse is just a pain in the ass. Now sure, with larger devices a touchscreen can also be a pain in the ass, but on most mobile devices it is not even that bad, so long as the layout is well made and tactile feedback in the form of vibration is present.

Edit to avoid double post: I have gotten myself into the NES mapper rabbit hole. Trying to properly figure out how UxROM discrete logic mappers work. And I have a hunch that a setup similar to UxROM can be used for more than just the NES, but other consoles as well. By some miracle I also found the exact model name of the pirate MMC3 version that can STILL be bought on Aliexpress, so I guess I'll be able to make bootleg carts myself and sell them. If someone asks too many questions, I'll just tell them that I bought these carts from some chink warehouse or whatever. I don't even know how I found it...I guess the SEO gods have cast a blessing on me. As you can see from the screenshot all of that has culminated with the rickroll posted in the Schroedinger 41% troon thread. I think that, at this point, some kind of divine intervention will be necessary. I even made a folder that I named "nigger kike chink" that I am gonna use just for these diagrams.

Micro transactions as well as DLC whoring has ruined several game companies forever to me. Some of them completely changed their business model to be nothing but what I call hat games, tripwire interactive is one I'm thinking of in particular. The game itself is almost secondary to the microtransactions that the company actually cares about, and they will do everything in their power to increase the number of them happening. I remember seeing something by the company's CEO about why this was totally justifiable because it's hard to make money off one game forever or something stupid like that.

I'll concede the point that touch screens have better multilingual support, but I'd trade that for being able to type without looking at my thumbs in a heartbeat.

Although this isn't tech-related at all, but it does relate to cars, I don't like how some auto makers are obsessed with using synthetic leather for seats, to the point that some cars don't even offer real leather seats as an option at all. Two examples of that, IIRC, are the newest Toyota RAV4, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which both only offer synthetic leather for seats, while some of their competitors, i.e. the Honda CR-V, at least still offer real leather seats for people who want it.

Another thing that comes to mind about cars is the use of soy-based wiring, for the reasons of "protecting the environment", when it can lead to some nasty and expensive failures, if rodents were to chew on that said soy-based wiring. It's as if auto makers did that not to protect the environment, but to make sick $$$ on repairs when rats do end up chewing on wires.

It was a tech show that run from the 1980s to the early 2000s. They basically were talking about the Amiga, Internet etc when they came out. Also it is an era of tech being people being is suits and trying to sell you a better spreadsheet software.

I love The Computer Chronicles, but when I watch it now, I mostly feel sad and stupid for being so naive about the progression of technology when I was young. Computers were destined to become shit and be used for evil, just like every other technical innovation out there.

When the new CPUs got introduced quite a lot, considering software showcased worked differently on for example on a 286 and 386.
I kinda miss tech product names that made some sense, like yeah a 486 is faster than a 386 or a Pentium 4 sounds better than a Pentium III.

Instead of basically being i3 i5 i7 for decades only seperated by their overtly long code name. Like I have a i7 desktop... that could pretty much mean anything. It really makes me cringe when I see advertisements just saying "laptop with i5 cpu" umm okay. That could mean anything. lol
