First time making one of these, but bear with me here.

Those of you who've ever played a tabletop game have probably heard stories about those creepy neckbeard DM's and GM's who insert their fetishes into the game setting and basically turn the entire game into their personal fapping material. Now, what happens when you have one of those guys decide that he can make splatbooks too!

Chris A. Fields is what happens.
Otherverse%2BAmerica%2BCover%2BLOREZ.jpg

This man is responsible for some of the weirdest fucking RPG's I've ever heard of, and his blogspot certainly has some... interesting things to say the least. I'll need to download his books from a less than legal source before I can give you some of his more colorful things in greater detail but I'll leave you with a taste of what is to come from a crazy goon over at Something Awful who has had the pleasure/misfortune to look through some of his work. But let's get started with some stuff straight from the man himself:

Note that he only said he avoided overt lolishit. Fields touts himself on his blogger profile as a freelance artist and game designer and ' Founder of Otherverse Games, Author of Otherverse America, Psi-Watch, Galaxy Command, Black Tokyo, Pirates of the Bronze Sky (LPJ Designs), Against the Darkness (Table Top Adventures) and other innovative and unusual role playing games.'

I'll give him unusual, but innovative? Fuck no, he's using the open gaming license for all his shit which makes it Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition compatible, and also Pathfinder compatible too if you wiggle it around a bit. Now what distinguishes Chris's brand of d20 3rd Party shit from everyone elses? Well... aside from setting related things, his focus on perversion, fetish works and for some bizzare reason a practical slobbering over feminism in general (A whole setting of his is basically FEMINISTS CAN DO NO WRONG) which is odd considering his focus on fetish works and his writing for a traditionally male dominated hobby alongside his almost incessant rape fetish shit. He has also recently come under fire from Brianna Wu aka John Flynt for his most recent splatbook.

I'll add more later as I dig deeper into the abyss.

So basically it's F.A.T.A.L with a slightly more coherent author and more (if that's physically possible) pedophilia?

Also is that literally a diagram of an abortion in that image? Jesus Christ that's deeply, deeply unpleasant.
Yes, yes that is. I'm pretty sure Fields does his covers himself too.

Note that he's got 2 F.A.T.A.L.-esque gamelines so I'm going to have to read through both, and his third-party pathfinder stuff (Namely a little title called Fursona.)

May the Emperor Protect My Soul.

Is he implying that the woman in the picture survived a 22-week abortion procedure? Because if it's done after 20 weeks, chances are excellent that the fetus is dying or dead anyway, so she also must have conquered anencephaly and the lack of a brain or some similar horrible condition.

But then, it sounds like the game creator has, too.

Gotta agree with Brianna on this one, what kinda creepazoid writes and publicly publishes an RPG called "Tournament of Rapists"?!?! Especially weird being as he either considers himself a feminist or maybe he just has a feminist fetish too? Oh I do hope this shit stain comes to the farms to defend himself. ^_^

Why can't we go back to the days when implying the heroine of a story enjoyed bondage or had bisexual leanings was considered super-edgy. It seems like nowadays people practically compete to publish their intensely creepy personal wank-material online for a profit.

Thing is, Wu got a few things wrong:

1. The rapists are the ones you kill.

2. It's creepy as hell, but considering the rest of the curriculum vitae of this writer, this is just the lowest hanging fruit on the entire tree. Seriously, I skimmed through some of the other crap this guy produced, this is TAME compared some of the other shit he wrote.

3. The description is vague and the title was chosen on purpose as a big warning to drive off the offended.

Speaking of which, holy shit, Fields actually is defending himself here. 3 is actually what he did, I'm dead serious.

This guy is a genuine lolcow.

EDIT: I can't seem to find an online copy of Black Tokyo that isn't virus ridden malware infested shit (Much like its source) so I'll probably have to end up cribbing off of Something Awful's Fatal And Friends review, or just link it for your viewing pleasure unless someone is willing to pay like 19 bucks for it for everyone. Maybe I'll have more luck with his other stuff.

A small highlight reel of Geth telling off Wu's outrage army:

So the next game we gonna see here is F.A.T.A.L., cause, "it's a game" excuse.
Disgusting.

If so, so be it. It's disgusting, but it doesn't violate the law, and just because something is "disgusting" doesn't make it a crime. Vomit is disgusting, but trying to ban that is beyond foolish.

In most of Europe such a product is illegal, you better remove such a product quickly before someone really chooses the legal way to get it removed.
Rape is a crime in nearly all nations and there is no way defending a game it with the right of free speech.

Then if you're from Europe, adhere to the laws of your country and don't purchase a product your country does not allow within it's borders.

I heard all the controversy and decided to check it out for myself. I've never heard of this site but if you keep standing up for free speech in art you have a new customer for life!

I'm very happy that you felt free enough to give these guys $4, and One Book Shelf will get their cut of $4.

On the other hand, they will be missing out of everything I buy from Monte Cook games, Green Ronin, Fantasy Flight, Wizards of the Coast, Evil Hat, Catalyst, Goodman Games, and probably a whole bunch of others that aren't popping into mind.

This is not, at all, about free speech. No one is calling for government regulation of the product. Nobody is saying this guy can't find some other venue to sell from. I am, myself, saying that I cannot in good conscience buy from this site while this product is still up.

If it eases your mind, there is plenty of other material I disagree with and likely wouldn't enjoy in the site that I just don't buy. But this is one of those things that isn't just "against my sensibilities" but that also has no redeeming qualities and makes gaming, in general, look bad.

There is nothing that abridges free speech in...See more

Well, this particular product is not of interest to me, but I've seen others that are interesting, so where they might lose your patronage, they will pick up others, but if you want to vote with your pocketbook based on your principles, I admire that.

That's like being offended over Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita".

The only defense he has is that he doesn't write CthulhuTech.

You know, the setting where the default adventures usually lead to your characters being utterly unable to stop the badguys because they need to survive and be even more awful later. And it's useless to play as many of the characters or races.

Still, why don't you link us to the Black Tokyo review already?

Sorry, here it is. I was just trying to find it again in a vain hope I'd get a good copy of it.

Also at least Cthulutech is just Evangelion with the serial numbers filed off and five times more pretentious of a metaplot. It isn't offensively bad.

A few interesting classes created by Mr. Fields. Quotes taken from the linked review.
Innocent: I was sure I mentioned this class back when Bitchtits was doing the rundown of Black Tokyo, and it turns out I was right.
I posted:
The character is basically an adult-child that can change their age category at will and learns such class features as magic that cannot be used to kill unless you spend an action point, a de-aging touch attack, and the crafting of clockwork soldiers. One thing I forgot to note back then was that you can permanently give up your adult life and get to be an ageless member of the Fey creature type in exchange.
Magical manchild powers, anyone?
Skele-Teen: An advanced class that gives you a collection of abilities associated with the whole "zombie lord" archetype. This would be okay on its own, but Field decided that the class would be restricted to teenagers that committed suicide after years of abuse and rape from their parents.

is with you, Field?!
Hey, Skele-Teen sounds like the name of some crazy, Tyce-esque superhero (or villain). I bet that would be cool... oh, wait. No, it's just fucked up.

Remember this only scratches the surface of the Fields. There's worse out there.
