Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

His popularity hasn't grown since he left office, either, so it seems odd that the Republicans are trying to hitch everything to this man. I see people saying they should make him Speaker of the House if the GOP takes it back.
They think that if he's speaker of the house, they can impeach Biden and Harris and Trump will be president. However, if Biden is impeached, Harris becomes president and chooses a new VP. So that VP would then be the new next in line.

Trump cultists are really, really stupid

The same line of thinking that both Trump and Pence could get impeached and convicted and then Pelosi would take over, essentially.

Well, I guess MAGA Cultists need something to believe in...

It really amazes me how the cultists think Trump was this super popular president. He was pretty widely disliked by all but his cult. His cult was very, very enthusiastic about him, but their vote still counts as much as the person who reluctantly voted for Biden.

The funniest thing that the cult tried to do was retrofit this squishy trust fund baby who's never had to work a day in his life as some sort of tough guy alpha male. Fucking LOL.

He had the lowest approval rating of all Presidents of all time, since they even counted that. That's even according to the most right-leaning pollsters of all time, like Rasmussen. Point out these simple facts to the retards who worship Trump, and they immediately chimp out and can't breathe.

They really are becoming like those they mocked, it's getting more hilarious by the second

To be fair they bought into how Trump presented himself and it didn't help during the 2016 Primaries and the general election he was against people who looked more pathetic than him in comparison (especially Jeb and Cruz).

Nah they just say that the poll is rigged and that they are bought off by the democrats or something. Hell they could also say people are lying just so they wouldn't get beaten by liberals.

now, for anyone who is remotely familiar with the most famous part of Don Quixote, the idea of tilting at windmills is a clear metaphor for doing something that is stupid and misguided while thinking it’s a big, important thing. Unintentionally appropriate imagery from Ben “I Have a Boner For Daddy Donny” Garrison. But we don’t expect intelligent commentary from Ben “Crying Basketball That Has Basketballs For Tears” Garrison, I’m sure that it’s an innocent mistake.

oh wait, it’s the second time he’s portrayed literal tilting at windmills as a good thing.

Now, unlike Ben “Never Met a (Rightwing) Conspiracy I Didn’t Like” Garrison, I am by default skeptical of conspiracy theories, but at this point he has to be doing this on purpose.

Hulkster while I usually agree (even though I supported Trump) that’s not 100% true. Here the Speaker of the House takes over.

The line of succession is clearly defined. President, Vice President, then Speaker. Speaker would only become President if the President is removed (or dies or resigns or whatever) AND there is not a Vice President. If Biden and Harris were both impeached and convicted then it would have to be before either one could appoint a new VP. We have precedent for this too, in October 1973 Spiro Agnew resigned as VP, less than a year later Richard Nixon resigned (they were forced to resign for two completely unrelated sets of crimes); so who became President then? It wasn't Speaker Carl Albert, it was Gerald Ford who Nixon had appointed VP between Agnew's resignation and his own.

Now, the Senate could refuse to confirm a replacement VP, but that's a whole other situation.

Okay fair point. I’m thinking of past elections and running on less sleep than usual. My mistake.

Did Trump bungle the Coronavirus response because his fanbase was saturated with anti-vaxx, 5G irradiates viruses, denialism lunacy and didn't want to lose their support? It's hard to rule in the 21st Century when your simps live in the Ante-Bellum era.
Trump denying the Coronavirus's severity and even existence was a watershed moment. The Democrats were all in on being just fine with keeping everything open, while the far-right and even mainstream right were anxious about China and being concerned. Trump denied it and the Dems took it seriously. In a bizarre way, he forced the establishment to take the pandemic seriously.

His excuse is that it's "a metaphor with artistic license"... so, not a metaphor at all.

How tolerant of them.
Over in the TES crowd, they're rightfully pointing out the hypocrisy of the sex positive crowd calling Melania a whore but that's fucking rich because I recall a lot of right wingers extolling the virtues of classy Melania, the gold digging ho (I never claimed to be sex positive myself) who can barely speak English vs Princeton and Harvard educated lawyer Michelle.

CRT seems to be pretty poorly defined, especially by those opposing it. But goddamnit, even if it solely consisted of white kids putting on shackles and being paraded around the campus while being called ethnic slurs by the non-white students, trying to get the government to step in and ban it is downright un-American. Oh, and requiring schools to have pro-America curriculums is fucking anti-American too.
I mean, the government is also allowed to set a curriculum. Obviously teaching the bible and all that church stuff would be unconstitutional but it's not inherently un-American to try to regulate what the schools teach. This is the same America where the red scare took place. Idk what he thinks a pro-America curriculum is (well I can guess and it's nothing good) but at the very least, the idea that schools should instill some patriotism into their students is not insane to me.

I think had covid not happened, Trump had an okay chance of winning, but he legit couldn't have done worse if he tried on covid.
He could have at least tried to be consistent. He blamed China for the plague but also denied it was serious. Since he couldn't very well deny the bodycount (well tbf, that worked on a lot of his supporters), his message should have been that America is under attack and we need to fight by taking those terribly inconvenient measures and the culprit is China. His cult would then have been the most fervent maskers in the world. Meanwhile, the Dems would have been pushed into a corner between accusing him of xenophobia while both the left and the right are panicking over the virus and supporting his anti-covid efforts. But of course, the man is just too incompetent.

Now, the Senate could refuse to confirm a replacement VP, but that's a whole other situation.
Now that is an interesting hypothetical. If Biden is somehow incapacitated and Kamala is sworn in, there is no majority in the senate until a new VP is chosen. Now GOP senators tend to be more reasonable than the House but if all of them refused to vote for a replacement (since it would hand back the majority to the Dems), would we just be deadlock until the next senate elections?

I mean there's nothing stopping the Dems from still saying the xenophobia caused by Covid is retarded like they're already doing.

TBH both sides denied Covid's severity At First big difference though is the Dems smartened up and started taking it seriously while Conservatives are still in denial and refuse to do even the bare minimum to help a year in.

Yeah, although I'm sure Romney at least would be like "no fuck this."

A more hilarious scenario would be the GOP taking the House in the 2022 elections (since this just tends to happen in US politics.) Grab Trump as speaker. Biden dies or is incapacitated. Harris takes over, House refuses to confirm a replacement VP. Kamala spends the rest of her presidency in a bunker for obvious reasons.

It's not that they're denying it, the GOP is being directly contrary to the DNC. That's more than half of what politics is now, take the opposite stance of the other side of the aisle and pin the consequences on the opposition. I could go on but I'd be doomposting, shit's gonna get wild in 2024.

But if Democrats are all getting vaccinated, that means Republicans won't. And as more and more variants pop up, who do you think is going to be the majority of casualties?

They thought Trump would win based on enthusiasm alone and Biden being boring/connected to Obama would be enough a turnoff.
I think the big issue here is everything is so polarized and everyone has their carefully curated hug boxes. I’m sure to the Trumper, being tied to Obama was enough to sink Biden because Obama is the Antichrist Kenyan Muslim who hates America and EVERYONE I talk to believes that.

Meanwhile most of America is ok with Obama I’d say.
