Because a lot of "Lore" underpinnings from Critical Theory that find application in its branches of Race Theory, Queer Theory, Fat studies, Women Studies and Academic Feminism from the 1960 onwards, explicitly state that to disagree or even abstain from taking their side is being complicit in sustaining the constructions that they are trying to deconstruct. "White Silence is violence", sound familiar?
As for getting a thorough introduction into Critical Theory I recommend "Cynical Theories by Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay. The first chapters will walk you through the historical post-modern underpinnings and then dives into the different fields I mentioned above.
