Could be right. I paid 68.00 to ship something smaller across the US. Depends on how quickly you want it there (overnight, next day, 2 day, or whenever)

How would they send you e-mail alerts if someone else sends it to you and the shipper (UPS) doesn't have your e-mail? Am I missing something here?

Just create an account on UPS to see the more detailed tracking. Ever since I did that for a single item several months ago I get text msgs from them whenever anything is coming to my address with a time window. I don't know what else to tell you.

Yeah, it depends on the weight. After a certain low weight the priority package is no longer a flat rate. I sent a 14lb package from New England to Oklahoma and it was $50-$60
Edit: It was Priority.
