Do you really think any therapist would be brave enough to tell Jazz that all his life has been a life and he's not really trans? I'm sure only a few would have the (npi) balls to do so without any fear of risking their careers.

It'd be the same as if we somehow discover that homosexuality is indeed a disease that can be "cured". More people would be against even talking about it. Once the narrative has been set, it's over for facts and truth.

This is exactly why gay rights activists in the 90s put pressure on evolutionary biologists to cease what was quite promising research into why some men turn out gay (there was a body of evidence that boys with multiple older brothers are more likely to be gay, which implies there is an evolutionary reason for it - would prevent too much violent male competition for females disrupting the group dynamic) because they were afraid that people would abort the gay away. Whilst that fear is understandable, I think it’s unforgivable that scientific research was stopped for political reasons.

in the same way, despite all their reeeeee-ing about how they’re true and honest wamman inside, you’ll never see any troon activists calling for scientific research into any possible biological basis for troonism. Because they know that there is none - it’s all based on fantasy and fetishism.

I mean, if you’re a fat fifty year old logger called Trey who wants to get his dick lopped off and go by Trina, you do you dude. But medically castrating kids to prop up your fantasy is catastrophic, and Jazz is living proof of this.

my prediction is that the new series of I Am Jazz will cause a wave of mass peakening in Murica as people get to see with their own eyes the horrific outcome of trooning small children. That’s why TLC is desperately trying to position Creepy Sanders as the star. Jazz on his own would just be too depressing.

either that or they’ll just lean into the comedy-horror aspect of it all and present the Jennings as the new Honey Boo Boo family.

What's with this Cousin Debbie sperging? If she was so instrumental to this, we sure have heard or seen fuck all about her. We know very little about the backstory and that's fine. The only testimony we'll ever get is Jeanette's, who is obviously fucking crazy and a complete liar so we'll never really know her intentions and motivations and how they changed over time. But spare us the autistic fan fiction which is mostly baseless speculation. Also I highly doubt she included Jazz in her phd paper as if she was conducting a live case study on a child.

I mean it does talk about Jazz but it's not what I thought it was going to be. It's not about what makes people trans or diagnosing people, just some bullshit topic for a paper that will never be cited. I also thought she wrote all this stuff while Jazz was still a toddler or something and she was some kind of trans pioneer...but no, she's just a weird sex therapist that recently jumped on the trans grift and published her dissertation in 2014. That seems to give even less credibility to your fan fiction. Even in that paper, she claims it was Jeanette who was first freaking out about Jazz "feminine" tendencies.

Jeanette also studied counseling. I see no reason to think that it was evil Cousin Debbie who planted this seed when she is nowhere to be seen in Jazz' circle of friends and family. Everything still points to crazy ass narc Jeanette.

She was also called in to talk Jazz off the ledge during the episode when she had her graduation speech meltdown. So she's very much "in her circle" and looks like even on the payroll.

Ah! Marilyn Volker was on her dissertation committee. She's also the "doctor" (Ed.D) who diagnosed Jazz as trans at age 2-3; the one who weirdly wears a hat during therapy sessions.

Looks like she starts talking about Jaron (not even disguised) on page 23, referring back to observing her trans behavior - more confusion over who unsnapped the onesie - at a family picnic in 2002 when Jazz was...2. I would say she was involved.

Seems she's gay and has a long-time partner with the same name (Deborah), apropos of nothing in particular. Interesting reading!

I did not know that. I have not seen all the episodes, but I didn't remember a cousin Debbie ever being mentioned.

In any case, I agree that Debbie is a grifter. I think most therapists are off-kilter to begin with and certainly sex therapists -- which is what Debbie is at the core. She's in her 60s and has been practicing for decades, the trans stuff has been tacked on recently.

But you're making it seem like Debbie is some puppetmaster who engineered Jeanette (a strong personality on her own) into creating Jazz. And specifically implying she did it for a PhD when her topic was written years after the fact. What history of trans activism does she have before Jazz? I think Jeanette has pretty clearly steered the ship and loved every second of the spotlight. The emphasis on Debbie, who is at best just a crazy copilot, is misplaced.

She was already a trans counselor (counseled trans people) when Jazz was 2; Jeanette looked to her for help. Who do YOU think put Jeanette on this crazy train? I'm not saying Debbie did it maliciously; I'm sure everyone involved sincerely believed in what they professed and thought they were doing the right thing. Did you read page 23 on? Clearly she was there from the start, putting in her 2 cents.

And obviously she referred her to Marilyn Volker, who "diagnosed" Jazz and set the whole thing in motion. I'm only surprised it wasn't Debbie who diagnosed him herself, but I suppose that would have been a conflict of interest and unethical!

Also, she didn't have her Jazz-inspired doctoral degree yet.

I mean Jeanette is the one conducting the fucking crazytrain lol. Debbie might have been along for the ride, but it takes a special kind of crazy to listen to bad advice (even if well intentioned) and end up with a castrated, mutilated son. I bet Debbie doesn't have one of those. We'll never really know the genesis of Jazz. But I don't think it matters that much. No need to write fan fiction to fill in the gaps.
