General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I thought Anycolor/Niji is a talent agency that just churns out the Vtubers and if they make it, good, else its the chopping block for them? Oh, and weren't they the same agency that has the whole "black" company tag attached to them?

Ofc, both Hololive and Niji have more or less reached a stage where failure no longer is quite an option on debut and the first few weeks/months post debut just because of branding and pre-existing fan pools.

While on the topic of Holo’s questionable management, it’s worth noting that whoever they got scouting talent deserves a lot of credit. It’s well known now that the JP VTuber scene is fairly incestuous and it’s probably just talent recommending their friends, but whoever is signing off on them has killed it so far. I’m still floored how they decided on this lineup for EN but damn has it worked out well.

But I do like the image of some middle aged Japanese man watching Kiss Yo Homies and thinking, “Yeah, seems good!”

To be fair, I was half expect them to come out with apology letter for showing Nazi minion on Pekora stream and then slap her with 1 week ban for that rando fag antic, but they haven't done that yet. Either they doesn't realize the symbol is a big no-no for western twitard, or they finally learning that they don't have to roll on the ground and show their belly for every minor issue. I hope it's the latter.
At this point, I think they’ll only care if the people causing a shitfit are Japanese, even if they’re literal who’s. I’m willing to bet minion Hitler offended more people than Marine dunking on some gay comic but since likely no one in Japan cared then it’s all good.

That thing is full of Holos, Cover already planted flag there

NijiEN2 sound almost exactly like the existing three in the promo that I thought they were just going to be the same girls just playing bizarro versions of their characters as a spin off.
/vt/ is confused right now because they were expecting them to end in HoloEN 2 but now all the list was crossed and they dont know who could be in HoloEN 2

From what I understand, it's not really a hate of the talent, but a hate of the company's middle management. Their attitude towards certain talents/ their practices. Examples include: monumemtally fucking up Coco's Burman filtering program, not allowing talents to do certain streams they seemed really passionate about (I think it was Pekora who wanted to do a giveaway or something).

If you're talking about people saying the EN branch isn't as good chemistry-wise as Niji's in the past few pages, I can definitely see where people are coming from. When you get all 5 of Holo's EN talents in one stream, there's this odd chemistry where only Kiara or Calli will interact and Ame, Ina, and Gura will mostly stay quiet. It's a little less noticeable when it's Calli and Kiara, or Ame and Gura and Ina. Or hell, Calli's 1 on 1 Tabletop streams had some of the greatest interactions between her and the other girls. Not to discount Holo's EN talents, they all are great on their own streams and have their own specific niches and talents. It's just that Niji's EN branch definitely has more chemistry, as all 3 members bounce off each other and have conversations.
I remember the censorship of Coco because she offended chinks. But the talent at hololive is great. V-tubers are wholesome and some of the best content out there.

Considering Niji JP branches have atleast had some diversity to them, (other than the school uniform wearers, not much you can do with that) it's pretty dissapointing that EN gen 2 has a palette swapped Elira-but-edgy.

I guess we'll have to see when they debut, but my bet's on them just being stock edgelord characters to try to cash in on the rock/punk niche

This is purely my speculation but my guess is to secure at the very least more collab opportunities. Compare the month of July. JP has off the top of my head.
  • VMA 2021
  • NijiBara live event
  • Bilibili concert (to be fair this one is virtual real but Hoshikawa and Kanae participated too)
  • Exhibit at Bilibili world Shanghai
  • Youtube music weekend
  • Pachinko tournament
  • Shueisha, Sweet paradise, Monster strike official collab
  • Google Assistant Q&A
Counting announcement for future events it's even more. Compare to that what do the EN girls has this month? That one Anime Expo appearance? Who the fuck go to Anime Expo anymore? And you can't just stick the En girls in JP events since as far as I know only Elira speak Japanese.

Nijisanji debutted a total of 6 members for 2020 for their main branch so that's preconceptions of Niji = more is outdated.

Your Niji bias is showing.

Calli was included in the Youtube Music Weekend, but I guess she isn't EN for you. Kiara was named as a brand ambassador for Tales but I guess that's not EN either. Ina was a featured artist Draw-A-Lot project, but I guess those don't count either

But event for and attended by Nijisanji JP? THAT'S A WIN FOR NIJISANJI EN.

When I said EN girls only have 1 events I was referred to NijiEn you retard. There was no point in that post I even talked about hololive at all. That's why I didn't bring up the hololive girls participate in youtube music weekend. Is holofags like you so sensitive to metaphorical dick measuring contest to compensate for something irl?
The 6 was my mistake. I misremembered the debut time of Meifu and Valz. However seeing you counting EN and KR while I specifically said main branch tell me everything I need to know about your reading comprehension.

He probably is counting HoloEN 2, but they have not debuted and we dont even know if they ever will, I think it was Kiara who confirmed that JP will not get more generations for a while and EN 2 will be the last thing that will debut this year, probably Cover will stop filling places and keep milking what they have until some graduate, or just get Holostar EN

Could be fucking anyone really. Cover doesn't just hire graduated vtubers, they hire anyone with talent and make them into vtubers.
Watson and Gura were the only ones with previous vtubing experience in Gen1, and both of them used 3D models instead of Live2D afaik.

EN2, instead of "Oh, it's that 500k sub vtuber who graduated 2 months ago", will have people like "Oh, it's some streamer/musician/artist from 6 years ago that had a few hundred followers, but she's fucking awesome at *random skill*, good catch by yagoo!"

Oh yeah, people are too focused with graduating VTubers, while in fact Holo recruits from almost everywhere so long they're content creators. Hell, even Calli has not history in streaming anything, right?
I wonder how they will choose EN2 members though. We can see from EN+IRyS they probably will focus on members with particular sets of skills, even Ame with her Gremlin-like humor and antica

As Jesus Christ, I always thought ID was in 2019 since they were the right after Gen 4.

Whoops, that my fault then. I'm too used to the chans calling HoloEN as just EN and the Nijis as Lazulight, so my brain automatically connected EN with Holo.

Also, the Rona still exists man, not much events the Lazulight girls can join without any chances of them being infected. Also, being this late in the game also means they have VShojo to compete with.

Hoping to see someone with extreme skills in 3D modeling, think an Ina-level artist but 3D. Having such a person in Hololive would be massive.
Think how Nene always creates those silly drawn props on her streams, now think of a pro 3D modeller doing such props for her stream. And maybe creating and sharing such props to other holos on twitter and birthday streams etc. It'd be a wholly new ability for any holo and really widen the skillset of the talents.

So Lyra had a spare model?
It definitely seems like Selen is more so playing into being Evil Elira with this twitter interaction
but otherwise I don't think it was a spare model. I feel like if they have the same mama its just some good lore building. Hope they play into the rivalry stuff.

Damn I was kinda liking there just being 3 NijiENs, I'm still getting to know the original three. I've been watching Pomu a lot. Actually it makes me hope there won't be another full 5 of HoloEN gen 2 or whatever they're gonna call it.
I personally won't abandon being a Pomudachi, but out of all the new girls Selen's design catches my eye along with Rose. Might give them a listen but its going to be harder now balancing NijiEN and then PhaCon... And HoloEN... And Hololive... And Nijisanji... And the indies I follow...

Elira almost leaked Nijisanji EN Wave 2 when Pomu called her. Apparently the Gen 2 joined just right after she left the call :story:
EDIT: And Pomu also asked if she'd join her in playing Minecraft...in the middle of her Genshin stream lol.
Classic Pomu Minecraft addiction. She really did quit her job in pursuit of being a minecraft vtuber despite denying that.
To add to the reason as to why Niji can get more to debut compared to Hololive, it might just be because Anycolor's a bigger company than Cover. Remember that each new talent requires an accompanying resource which might not be something Cover can provide readily.
Nijisanji also doesn't pay their (all of) Livers a salary like Hololive does apparently. Which could be seen as sketchy but I guess allows for more freedom between hauling ass and treating it as an actual job or streaming as a side gig that you sometimes get paid from.

Someday we will have the recipe of how Cover choose their crazies

In other news Irys start a stream to celebrate her superchat... only to not know how to activate it

Past-Ina also streamed virtually.

Edit: oops sorry replied to the wrong post, this was meant for tubelad

I'd rather see that person brought on behind the scenes. However, I like the silly kind of shitty props the Holo girls make so having it done by a pro might take some of the charm away.
Korone's MS paint props make me laugh a lot.

I'd imagine holoEN2 will have a lot of bilingual people in it. Probably will not be the main requirement for getting in, but will make them score higher on acceptance. The great sucess that Calli, Kiara, Ollie, Irys, Coco, etc acheieved by this will be a factor. Hitting the original JP fanbase as well as others should be a goal with the new talent. I'd expect at least one to speak spanish if Cover listened to Coco at all.

I wonder if it's possible that IRyS got only got monetization enabled and thought that meant she also had superchats.
EDIT: Nope, false alarm
