Hi! If you don't know already, my name is Bailey. I live in Windsor, ON with my American girlfriend. We're both transfemme and have escaped abusive households that were against parts of us; traits that drew us together and have strengthened us since.
We've been living in Windsor for the past few months. Why Windsor? Literally only because it had the cheapest real estate in all of Canada. Unfortunately, now we're 3 hours away from all our friends, my trans healthcare, and even more broke than before as the city has an employment problem. that is to say, we've been searching for months, and have yet to find a job.
So! Since this dead city is sucking the life out of us, forcing us to bum money off of friends, and ultimately is stopping us from getting jobs and living our lives, we decided it's high time to go back to where we have friends and opportunity.
Of course, we can't afford to go right back to Hamilton. But some houses in St. Catharines seem well within our reach! It's a short drive from Hamilton, full of job opportunities, right beside a tourist outlet, and best of all, my trans healthcare would be minutes away! Sounds pretty great, right? Sadly, we may not be able to get enough money out of our current house to do the move. We may not even break even...but you can help!
The $10k I've proposed in this kickstarter will help us tie up loose ends in Windsor, make a trip or two down to St. Catharines to check out houses, as well as pay for a down payment on a house! Money may also go to marriage of my girlfriend and I to keep her in the country, any extra bills we can't pay here, and renovations/living costs while we look for jobs in the new area.
So yeah! We could really use any help we can get! I feel really bad asking for this money, but maybe this'll help us get back on our feet and back to enjoying life and helping others like us.
