Snoopy has died

Wait, he needed neighbours to help him to dig a small hole in the ground?
Maybe it's just me but I'd probably be too inconsolable to dig the hole myself. I could barely hold it together last year when I finally took my dog to the vet for the last time.... Had to have someone else drive.
That day sucked. It still sucks now. I miss my boy so much....
Hug your pets. You never know when it'll be the last hug.

I haven't had pets in years, but I'd probably got together and did it myself. After all, it would be the last thing I could do for my pet. And putting this burden on someone else is kinda against my principles.
Sucks that your dog died though, my condolences.

I was with him the entire time and holding him in the car =/ I was just crying too much that I couldn't safely drive is all. I think as long as you're with the dog every step of the way through their final moments, it really shouldn't matter who does what.
I've heard so many stories from the vet of people just... leaving.... during the final minutes and I can't even imagine doing that. It's just so cruel and sad...

Still have one more dog but he's only 2 so he's going to be here for a while & I thankfully don't have to think about this for another 10 years at least.

From all Chandler household pets I always had the feeling Chris loved snoopy the most.
All dogs go to heaven, snoopy. R.I.P.

Snoopy has joined the Mawkenda

Beagles are not for novice/lazy dog owners. Beagles are not only a high-energy breed, but they are also very intelligent. They require a LOT more exercise and mental stimulation than the majority of other breeds, otherwise they become obese and ill-tempered. Chris justifying being a lazy fuck and never walking the dogs because "Snoopy hurt his leg" made me legit angry, because the exercise would have actually HELPED Snoopy's leg injury by building up muscle and burning fat. The fact that Snoopy was so fat definitely contributed to his leg pain and prevented him from recovering fully. Snoopy barely made it to the age of 10, when most Beagles can live to be 13-15 years old with average care, and Beagles that are exceptionally well cared for have been known to live twice as long as Snoopy did. Snoopy lived a short, miserable, boring life because the Chandlers couldn't be fucked to give him even the most basic care. They couldn't even be bothered to feed him cheap-ass, low quality kibble. They fucking fed him soup.

For those who aren't aware of the Chandlers' neglect towards their pets: the dogs were never housebroken. They were allowed to shit and piss all over the house because Chris was too lazy and Babs too old to take them outside to do their business. The dogs were never socialized and would bark, growl, and act aggressively towards anyone other than Chris and Barb. They never took any of their pets for check-ups and vaccinations. They never got any of their pets fixed. The only time they would take their pets to the vet was when they were injured or seriously sick. They rarely ever cleaned the litter boxes for the cats, to the point that the cats would also piss and shit around the house and one time Chris slipped on a pile of cat shit that was on the kitchen floor. The only way Chris and Babs could be worse pet owners would be if they started physically abusing their pets, and there have been some rumors that Chris would hit the dogs.

Normally I can at least feel sympathy for someone when they lose a pet, friend, or family member, even if I really dislike the person. Losing a pet or loved one is always difficult. But I just can't bring myself to feel bad for the Chandlers right now. Not when I've been watching them neglect and mistreat their animals for so many years. I'm a big softy when it comes to animals, especially dogs. I just feel sorrow for the miserable life Snoopy lived and Clover is still living, and genuine relief that Snoopy's suffering is over. I also genuinely feel bad for Clover that her lifelong companion and litter mate/pack member is gone, because she's probably not going to handle it well. I genuinely pray that the Chandlers don't get anymore animals to ease their sorrows, especially no more dogs. I just want the cycle of suffering and neglect to end for their poor pets.
These are the type of people that should not even have a goldfish as a pet, let alone two Beagles and several cats.

I'm probably late in saying this, but I think Bob was the only responsible one in the household when it came to pets; I'm convinced he was the only one to look after Patti. I'm sure Chris loved Snoopy, but like everything else, he was more concerned about the merge/god/pony shit than the basic care of a pet.

Reminder: This SOB wants a daughter. I think I've said it before: If Chris can't handle raising an animal, then he sure as hell cannot be near children. A bit off topic, but I theorize when David Chandler had his daughter, there's a reason why he didn't take her in her early years to 14 BLC so Chris can look after her if there was a chance he was busy.

Even Chris' enablers can't be that blind/autistic to help him get another one, lest they be doxxed.

It kind of sucks, but they weren't exceptionally bad pet owners in comparison to a lot of people. I love dogs more than people, but realistically, I don't know what people want done. Every veterinary hospital in the deep south is full of obese beagles and obese Bluetick Coonhounds. Take a ride through some neighborhoods and you'll see dozens of houses with dogs chained up out in the sun with no shade, all day, hiding under decks and porches when it rains.

The Chandlers are shitty pet owners but they aren't even in the bottom 30%. I agree they shouldn't take pets they can't take care of, but all the high-roading in this thread.... what do people want? Clover destroyed? It's like saying someone's a bad parent. Unless you want to take the kid or to pay taxes so the state will put it in a shitty orphanage, I don't understand the outrage and calls for them to lose the pets.

Patti had it better, but I doubt by much. Instead of being lonely and bored inside the house, she was lonely and bored outside in a tiny dog run. I doubt any of the Chandler pets ever got the proper care they need with regular visits to the vet for check-ups and vaccinations. If they aren't taking care of their pets now then it's a safe bet that they never have.
