We have the actual statistics for deaths caused under Communist regimes and if you add them up, the numbers are in fact lower - perhaps a third or so less at the least. That doesn't mean these were good things, of course.

Take repressions, suicidal attack plans, ethnic cleansing, class cleansing and etc into account and one can easily get to a number even higher than that.

I don’t think Capitalism has ever caused such atrocities as the GULAGs or the great Chinese famine, the closest example I could think of would be Congo Free State, but it’s not really comparable.
