Short answer: yes. FF and FG are selfishly obsessed with money and power at the expense of their own population.
Fine Fail and Fine Gael (who've been fucking up the island for nearly 100 years) are now losing popularity and votes fast to Sinn Fein, so they're pushing for migrant councillors and voters in their parties to keep their votes, calling for censorship laws, and pushing for extended lockdowns further and further so they don't lose to Sinn Fein. However, SF are shady and they aren't really any better despite mainstream media demonization. The newspapers like the independent.ie (even though it allows some differing points of views believe it or not but still very woke) are also owned by FF and FG politicians, so you'll never hear any serious criticism of the two parties and more so nitpicking of Sinn Fein.

There is no scientist that has worked on this virus that thinks it is ever going away and it is entirely the opposite. This thing is mutating very rapidly - far more so than any laboratory could ever hope to achieve. The vaccines are reducing the pool of hosts to provide mutations for if anything. It is an ideal virus for humans.
We must remember that viruses in the past have been constrained by limited access to hosts. I.E. if this virus had emerged in 1850 it very well may have burned out - possibly. But given the 21st century access - well in other words 150 years ago a virus may have had a hard time going from one village to another given the time and distance required, whereas today it can be in any city within a day. Think about that. It used to take weeks to get anywhere, and now it takes hours.
We've never had a nasty virus like this in a global modernized world where "Earth" is comparable to a few villages (how a virus sees it). And that can spread this easily. I mean if Ebola was this transmittal we'd have simply bombed the villages where it was and called it a day - for the sake of Earths population.
Most hope it simply mutates into a less lethal strain and becomes much like a common cold, endemic, but not too much of a concern. The only thing that is squandering this hope is that it seems to be getting more lethal and it is not behaving as we had hoped.
We really are going to need to see it infect the majority of the worlds population and roll through it to see where it will go. My guess is it's going to jump species and gain material from other hosts (like swine) and come back and bite us in the ass, and then it will die down into less lethal strains which will be of little concern. I think this is likely, but is opinion.
What is not helping is that it is lethal - but not small enough not to worry, and not great enough that it creates terror. I mean, if it was 0.1% then fine, we live with it like the cold, but if it were 5% lethal then gaining public support would be easy. It is in the Goldilocks zone at the moment which makes it a sneaky little shit. You can't panic, but you can't not panic.
As mentioned before but I just have to point out that this is because of the beta variant. Beta is just so last year!

What makes me distrust the narrative the most about all of this is how the "Us vs Them" polarization is being encouraged.
If someone is like, 'I think I'l wear a mask and get the vaccine. Whatever' then they get attacked for being brainless sheep that will cause all of humanity to be enslaved by some higher order.
If someone is like, 'Nah, I don't want to wear a mask and I'll wait before getting the vaccine' they get attacked for being willfully ignorant of THE SCIENCE and are dangerous monsters intent on killing us all.
Sure seems like someone, somewhere doesn't want people to be able to see each other as friends and allies despite all the "We're all in this together!" nonsense.
Let's not even get into all the tiny things that make us irredeemable racists nowadays.

So much money has been spent, they have to see a result, even if that involves people becoming ill/dying when they shouldn't. The injections have a limited lifespan, they need to be 'used' before they are wasted. The governments of the world don't want to answer to their people, when the people realise how much money has been wasted on injections, propaganda, and lockdowns, that instead could have gone towards making sure the next generation are educated correctly (as an example).

We must secure the borders and control the population movements to stop a pandemic, but some people can just go around without anybody knowing how many of them are, and where are they in any given moment. How do you even vaccinate those people? Or see if they are being affected by the virus at all? Can you even bar them from accessing services and business opportunities because of the vaccination when they are part of protected groups who can even get away with rape and murder? hmm

This, among many things raises many questions and shows that at least the state is incompetent in handling this situation. Or they don't consider it serious enough to harass people who have a track record in importing exotic diseases and never being vaccinated against anything. But I guess they need to import them to do the jobs, that doesn't exist anymore because the economy got fucked over.
Bonus question: How can you even know the percentage of "cases" and vaccinated people when you have no clue about the sum of the people living within your borders? One part of the system literally don't want to know, because that's bad, while the other part basically wants to know everything.

What gets my goat is that people have lost the ability to think critically and rationally about these stats and pointless regulations. None of them are taking into account things like individuals dying everyday from MULTIPLE causes like heart attacks, car crashes, suicides etc. or falling sick to sun stroke or other underlying health issues.
At a photography studio I go into, we have to take a COVID test, put in COVID risk assessments, wear masks and sanitize every SINGLE damn thing because "it's deadly" and cases are "going up" when the number is pretty small. Even if you have the vaccine, you can still "spread it". If it's that harmful, why the eff would you open up the place in the first place?! And how come the vaccine is still being pushed if it "doesn't do anything"?!
All this useless namby-pamby shite like wiping down surfaces has been proven to be false and over the top. Brainless morons...

This is people finally turning up to A&E with issues that should have been seen to months ago, that have progressed to the point of needing emergency treatment or they can't get a referral for due to disruptions in routine care. Anyone scared for the hospitals because of a few hundred positive PCR tests should be fucking terrified of this, this is a year and a half worth of heart complaints and mysterious pains and weird lumps coming to a head all at once. We're at the precipice of the real public health emergency, anything covid could have done will pale in comparison.
